K/R: Bedstu RATE cognac boots

These arrived over the weekend. They fit well and are very RATE, which I think will suit me better in a non-black boot. I will need to have a grippy sole put on as the bottoms are leather and I'm slipping around the house!

My two concerns are:

1) whether the shaft is too narrow for wearing over skinnies (usually not a problem for me with my skinny calves - they fit, so I'm talking more about the look). Do they make me look top heavy?

2) styling the color. Must these be bookended to work for me with dark hair? I can see them as a summer boot as well as in winter.

I LOVE them! The color is awesome. I think they look fine the way you're wearing them, I don't see any top heaviness.

Wow. It's kind of painful how much I love these. I don't think they make you topheavy at all, especially since you aren't going to wear them with cognac jeans... they will create a nice horizontal line at the bottom that balances the shoulder line IMO. I think the fit with skinnies is nice - makes a sleek leg kind of like your DH boots. They bookend with your skintone; no need for anything else.

LOVE these boots...seriously LOVE! Not too skinny, don't make you top heavy, no need to bookend...just wear them and enjoy.

I love the colors on these boots, I don't see any need for bookending. They look great with your white skinnies! And Kona looks like a small deer! He's adorable!

They don't make you topheavy at all. They have presence in the RATEness, so even though they are light, they don't look wimpy. I like them over the skinnies!

Nope, not too slim for your top, I like them. They are a great color, they look especially good with that citron top. Cute critters!

Wow, those are cool. I don't see any ice cream cone going on. Gorgeous color. I don't think you are going to need to bookend at all.

As another IT, I would say they don't make you look top heavy at all, the color is quite fantastic and I love the RATE aspect of these. How I wish I could wear yellow as well as you. Your dog is too cute.

Love these Una, I think they will be wonderful with bare legs when the temps increase.

These boots look a couple of shades darker then your complexion on my monitor would you consider them close to a nude? If yes, I see no reason why you would need to bookend.

These look fab! Since they bookend with your skin, I think it makes a difference that you are wearing 3/4 or scrunched sleeves. In warmer weather with bare legs or scrunched/shorter sleeves, you won't have to think twice about bookending. In winter, if you don't have an open neckline, you will probably have to pay more attention. JMHO.

They are not exactly a nude on me now, but would be closer to my skin tone (minus the distressing!) in summer. They are almost a golden brown with some darker and lighter scuffed areas. They are much more golden than the stock photo, which I actually like. Who knew you could bookend with your face? Love it!

These look really good on you - almost makes me want to reconsider my ban against buying anymore cognac footwear! I think that the color of the sweater really works with the cognac boot - they look like they are in the same color "family" - and because of that, no need to worry about bookending with anything else!

Love the rate quality, Una, and I don't see any problem with the fit on the calves. I think the color is completely doable in your wardrobe, too. I do this length of book is a little tricky --- tucks might not stay tucked, for example. That said, I have a taupe pair that I wear all the time and I love 'em.

I should have gnawed off my arm the first time around. Now that I know I can wear high heels comfortably at work, I can't help trying them out. You are my official boot guru!

Rae, I am so flattered that you are ordering them! The heel is quite comfy although I'll be getting an insole and like I said, the bottoms made grippy. I also highly advise sizing up a half-size - I'm in a 6.5 in these and I'm normally 5.5 - 6 depending on width.

I think these look fabulous on you and I agree with R&J: The first thing that I thought was that they worked as a pseudo-nude on you. I was glad to read down the comments and see that I wasn't alone in that. Besides, they bookend Kona so well, you should keep them just to give you an excuse to bring pup with you everywhere!

HAHAHA! Bookending Kona - I laughed so hard I really did spit out tea! You are right though. I'm going to try these barelegged in some summer-y photos, although we are light-years away from that scenario right now.
