K/R: Anthro top and the perfect leather jacket in the wrong color

First three photos are a silk top I picked up at Anthro this evening. I liked the color/pattern and the interesting shape, plus it's very lovely feeling silk. What do you guys think of the shoulder fit on me? It's one size smaller than normal (they had none of my regular size in the store to try) and feels fine in the shoulders except when I slouch, which I should not be doing anyway. But I am slightly concerned that it's not doing my sloping shoulders any favors. Please note it's not styled - I probably wouldn't wear it with such a full skirt! ETA: I'm not worried about styling it, just wondering about the fit/cut for me.

The jacket in the last 4 photos is the quilted leather moto that Anna posted about last week. It fits *perfectly* and the leather is really nice. BUT they sent me coral and I ordered turquoise. I'm not sure this coral color is really me. =( I have already contacted NM and unfortunately there are no turquoises left in my size for an exchange. They are waiving the return shipping fee at least. So what do you think?

It is a very cute jacket, but if you aren't comfortable with the colour... On the other hand, sometimes I have grown to really love something I wasn't too excited about to begin with.

I'm not too sure what to say about the top. It's fun and interesting, but you're right, it doesn't work with that skirt. But it might look wildly different with a pair of straight jeans or a pencil skirt.

JR, I'm not really concerned about how to style it. I know it will work with jeans and slim skirts. I'm just wondering about the fit, especially at the top.

The jacket is just so... pink.

Oh, man, that sucks about the order mix up. I dunno - I might get used to an unexpected color, but that's a big change to wrap your head around on a big purchase. It's not like it's a $15 layer tank or something.

I see the shoulder issue in that top, and it does look a bit off, to my eye. Cool top though.

The jacket looks great! Tough call, because I would have also been thrown off if they'd sent me coral instead of turquoise. Is the color IRL this pink, or is it the photos? I think the color looks nice on you, but would it play well with your wardrobe, and would you actually wear it?

I'm not sure about the top. It looks like it is bunched under the arms in photo 2. I like the print and cut--veryi cool. I think the moto is awesome but you are right about it being a lot of pink. I haven't seen you in that color before. I think of you as more burgundy, purple, deep reds but not pink.

Not loving the top. The jacket does fit great, but someone i don't see you wearing that color a lot.

I don't think the top fits you as well as it should. I see why you liked it, but it looks like it is pulling under the shoulders. The jacket fits so great, but it is pretty pink -- if it was more a red coral I could see it working. That must be so disappointing for you. Do you think there will be some returns and you could snag one then? Because the cut looks really great on you.

That top is cute -- and lovely lovely color on you. I might have a tailor remove the cap sleeves and turn it into sleeveless, then fit problem solved.

I actually love the coral color on you. A lot. However I am not as crazy about the rest of the jacket but that's very possibly just a preference issue so ignore. Jacket seems to have a lot going on...quilting/zippers/etc.

I like the idea of the top a lot. But I do think the fit is off in the shoulders.

As for the jacket, I wouldn't keep it if it's not what you want. It's too expensive for that. I think the colour looks great on you, but I can't really see you wearing it a lot, especially moving into fall/winter.

I want to love the top. I love the pattern and the interesting cut. I think it could look fabulous with skinny jeans in grey or black skinny pants. I almost think you should pull the pictures, style and re-post. I feel like the pictures unstyled, with the white skirt are too distracting for us to evaluate it very objectively.

With the jacket, send it back. I hate experimenting with anything expensive. Bummer. Such a huge, huge bummer. But a worse bummer would be to have it hanging in your closet unworn, mocking you with its cheerful pinkness as it goes unworn.

I unfortunately don't love the cap sleeves on the blouse. :T

The jacket looks amazing closed. It might be a cool accent piece to all your teal stuff. But on the other hand, you do like to do tonal outfits and I could also see you still pining for the other color. I can't quite tell about the fit of it open because of the drapey ness of the top underneath.

Thanks, everyone. I'm pretty sure these are both going back. You've confirmed my suspicion that the shoulders on the blouse are too small... normally I actually like little cap sleeves but they have to actually sit on the edge of the shoulder and not on top of it. If I ever come across this top in my normal size I might revisit it, but this one is going back.

The jacket is unfortunately really that pink. If it was a darker, more berry color I think it would work, but this pink is just a bit too light and bright for me. I will wait until I can see it in daylight tomorrow, but I don't think the color is going to suddenly become darker just because I want it to, LOL. I think it would become a closet orphan. I am going to continue to keep an eye out for the turquoise one though. Another plus is that now I know that NM's house brand leather jackets are nice and fit me well, so I'm giving myself permission to stalk several of their other lovely leather jackets for this season, some of which come in lovely colors like teal and burgundy.

I agree that the shoulders look a little tight in the top. For the jacket, I think you have to REALLY love it to keep a leather jacket. And if you're not quite sure about the color, I'd vote return.

Not loving the top - the shoulders look like they are forcing you to stand funny or something. Too bad because the color is great!

Boo about the leather jacket. I don't see this color working for you - maybe one will turn back up in turquoise?

I think the top should be a size bigger - it looks not quite right across your back. Can they track down one from another store to send to you? My experience was they ship for free in those instances.

I'm not feeling that color leather on you If you were instantly attracted to it, then it would be something to consider. But if you're not in love with ALL its aspects, then the $$ should go into one you DO love every which way.

I'm just not loving either of these for you Diana - you have some amazing clothes and these just don't fit into that group. The top def. looks too small to me and the color of the jacket is just not the right one.

Diana, I haven't followed your WiW's closely enough to have a sense of your existing wardrobe. So note that my reaction is not based on that context -- it's based purely on the fact that it's a stunning and flattering color for you.

Might I suggest that you play around with this jacket before sending it back? Maybe it is just the right dose of "unexpected" color that you need to shake things up in your closet? Perhaps you still choose to ultimately return it , but you discover that this color may have a place in your life?

Kind of like my hot pink skirt. I don't think I'd wear a jacket in that color (never say never) but as a skirt it is an unexpected surprise.

Angie and Shiny, OK, I will definitely play around a bit with the jacket in my wardrobe before I decide to send it back... I think I may just not be a Pink Person though...

Diana, I hear you. I AM a pink person, so I am a little biased. That said, I know your style and wardrobe items pretty well. You are girly and tomboy at the same time - always with a good dose of arty. I believe this jacket could work. FWIW!
