*But that aside*, what do we think of this? I've been having a shamefully one-sided love affair with Burberry and Barbour jackets for who knows how long. This one is from Anthro but still has that rugged, quilted-jacket-o-luxury vibe. And a super deal compared to my inspiration. Although, yeah, deal "compared to Burberry" is kind of a big qualifier. I love how it fits like a cropped denim jacket without being a denim jacket, and I really dig the little almost-peplum waist going on. I don't see great shades of olive for my skin that often, and I think this color is good on me.

Thoughts?

No. Absolutely not. The only fit punishment for this crime is transportation. Transport that woman to Canada, IN the jacket, and make her share it with this judge immediately!

Seriously, Rae, this is an absolutely adorable jacket. You have to have it.

What's the warmth factor? Can you justify it at all practically in your climate (not that I think you need to.)

Laughing at Shiny and Suz... maybe that is a side business for me: renting out my clothes!

Thistle, it is actually a pretty lightweight jacket, which is good for me. I get the "look" without boiling in real down quilting.

Oooh, I saw this in store the other day and it is great in person ... although I didn't try it on. But it's darned cute on you, Rae. I vote "keep."

Question. Is there any way to wear this as an inside jacket in the winter? I have the feeling you live somewhere with a warmish climate, so that might not work for you, but maybe for others!

I'm not 100% sold on this jacket. The extra high waistband is off to my eye - especially in #3. It looks like a kids jacket. The Burberry proportions look a billion times better. I know that's not what you wanted to hear

But I'm the only one who feels this way, so if you love it - you should keep it.

Angie, yes, I'm horribly short waisted. When I do Imogen's test, I can't even fit a whole hand between my bust and navel. It is why I never wear wide waist belts or high waisted jeans. It makes me happy that I've camouflaged it well enough that you didn't notice!

Case in point. This jacket does exactly the opposite of what you usually do with your outfits - which is lengthen your torso. That's why I find the proportion a bit off. Make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. It is always a tightrope walk between lengthening the torso vs. lengthening the legs for me.

So here is the jacket styled with flats (incidentally, these are the Frye Melissas I found for $20). I do like it better but, as they say on Icanhascheezburger, what has been seen cannot be unseen. Also, since this jacket is almost as much as I paid for my steampunk leather jacket earlier this year, it should be perfect enough to wear with heels or flats. I think it's going back, much as it breaks my heart...

I should try to match this color as near as possible when I dye my tan leather jacket, though.

I might give this one in #3 a whirl, too, since they have one at the mall close to me.

Oooh! I know just how you feel about the Burberry jackets. I have been coveting one for YEARS. If we ever become fabulously wealthy, that'll so be my "I've arrived" piece. I can totally see how this would tempt you - it does have a little bit if that, what did you call it? "quilted-jacket-o-luxury" about it, doesn't it?
I do like the colour on you, and the jacket looks really cute while open, but somehow not as great when closed to my eye...I am not sure why. Maybe the way that the piping angles down? I could just be nuts...

You can't be nuts, LadyBirdK; Angie agrees with you! You know... the burberry jackets like this are like 2-3 times more expensive on ebay. Maybe if I'm a good girl and save pennies for 2-3 more years I can get the real thing?

Thanks for posting the extra outfits, Rae. The proportions are better in #2 for sure. Still not fabulous zipped up though - to my eye that is.

Thanks, everyone. If I am honest with myself, I should have known it didn't work when it didn't look good with my bootcuts, which are a staple for me. :T Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Angie, #3 is by Vince Camuto. But now I wonder if I should just wait until I can get a deal on the real thing? I have many jackets I can enjoy in the mean time, and since it's a classic look I don't *need* to get the look asap...

Una, that Burberry is SO cool - and convertible! You know I love me convertible items.
