K/R and style?

Not sure about this handed down vest. Been meaning to ask for months. Should I keep and if so, how to style it?

I would style it in a column of lighter colors-or bl&grey pattern (for ex a dress or top with lighter print),

Do you love it? I feel it looks a little dated. Not quite as modern as the vests we are seeing around today. On one level tho, it's pretty classic so it could work. I think it really depends on how much you like it.

I think you can keep it if it goes with the rest of your wardrobe, but I would leave it open.

I vote keep. Check out Pinterest. I just fount a great look there that I think you could pull off. A white or light V- neck or button down opened at the collar, partially tucked into jeans, and some booties. The jeans are rolled above the booties. Carry a large bag. It was cute. Vest was open.

I wish I could copy the look here. I'm on my iPad, so I don't know how to do it.

ETA: I think I managed to add it in the photo's below. I don't think you need the sunnies hanging off the shirt!

Thanks Lyn - lighter colours are a good idea.

Deborah I don't love it. I got it from an older friend who probably either bought it on consignment or picked it up (rescued) from a roadside collection. So it may well be dated - I was just not enough up with the current sleeveless vest look to tell if it had come back again

Crazyone and Staysfit - I agree that it looks better open. Staysfit I'll see if I can replicate the look you describe.

I think it look good. These long cardigans are flattering, I find. As long as it is not showing too much wear, I would keep.

For styling, I would add a neckerchief to the outfit you have on, for some flair.
Or wear it with a shirt with a slightly lower neckline.

Good ideas Smittie. I forgot to mention that I just put it on over anything for the photo. I agree a lower neckline would be better

I don't love it. I prefer the more structured vests that are currently popular.

I would say if you don't love it then pass it on.

Anne, the fabric of the sleeveless cardi looks a little thin and flimsy to wear this way. Also looks too wide on the neck and shoulder. I voted nay.

Angie, your feelings are in sync with mine. I'll try out the outfit Staysfit mentioned, but unless it is an absolute winner I'll be more than happy to get rid of it. I'm not sure I've ever worn it and I've had it for ages - all year I think.

I vote nay - it looks a little too shapeless and the pockets are droopy which would drive me crazy.

If you decide to keep it, be sure to look at the back of your outfits full length. I've seen some of these thin knits cling to hips in ways that would have embarrassed the wearer if they knew.
