K/R: a few NAS contenders ETA new pic without shadows

Thanks for helping me out with a few NAS contenders. I have struck out so far, but these are a bit closer than the others I've tried.

#1/2/3 - Amber Sun jacket and Blondo boot

Jacket - This felt better than it seems to look in the pics - I'm afraid the shoulders are too broad. What do you think? It doesn't come in petites (this is an XS).

In #7 you can see the shoulders better - sorry for the goofy pose.

Boots - do you think they are too tall in front for me? I've pulled up the skirt in #3 so you can see wear they hit relative to my knee.

#4/5/6 - MK trench

OK, red is REALLY outside of my comfort zone. I've kept the AS jacket on underneath, so this is about as bulky as it gets. I do like the length (for biking!) and the zip out liner (for Minnesota!). You may recall me trying a cobalt trench awhile back - it ended up not working out (the size that fit in the shoulders did not fit in the bust), so I'm in the market for a trench.

hmm, I don't mind the shoulders of the AS jacket, in fact it just looks like that's the style, but I feel like the color is a smidge too dark for you. Maybe it's just the photograph, but I didn't find it super flattering.

The fit on the MK trench is really great! I think you should keep it, though I have to admit I'm still a little on the fence about the color for you. ETA: more because I'm not sure it will go with the rest of your clothing and you seem hesitant about it in general, not because the color isn't flattering.

I like the AS jacket on you (both color and fit) but I am not sure I am completely sold on the style. Maybe I just need to adjust my eye to the wider, retro style.

The boots look great - not too tall as far as I can tell.

I like the trench - I have the same trench on order because of the removable liner, which sounds very practical. The fit looks good on you.

The blue jacket is pretty and probably a great color to mix into your wardrobe, but I have the same question about the fit. Kind of boxy and big in the shoulders and the 3/4 sleeves then look too short.

Boots look like a good fit and flattering. The red trench looks great but wonder if you will feel that it is bold and doesn't get along with the rest of your closet of more muted jewel and earth tones.

Boot looks great! The jacket is nice, too. although it's a certain waist-surrending look, which I actually like!

The jacket, IMO, looks AMAZING, just AMAZING on you!! I vote KEEP.

And, in regards to the color; everyone needs a red coat. I have only two red items in my closet (well, three now) and one of them is a coat. Actually, since you don't have a lot of red (I'm assuming here) it will be easier to match up, because it won't compete with other red items...You can wear it with everything, pretty much! Be BOLD! (-:

Definitely keep the boots. It is early morning for me, and I am always extra picky at this hour, but I think the jacket needs to be petite (I know, you said there are none). The bracelet length should be a tad shorter and I am worried about the shoulders too, although it is hard to tell with the shadows. On the other hand that color combo is so fab I also want you to keep it. I am also concerned about the shoulders on the trench and wondering if the arms could be a tad shorter, but maybe I really am being picky. I think I could be talked either way on this one, especially because the red with that olive skirt is divine! If you were to keep it all this whole ensemble would be color heaven.

I am surprised that I like the jacket on you: just additional proof that Angie knows her stuff. I bypassed in in the store but really like it on you: very unusual shape and should be great with sleek bottoms.
Boots look on the edge to me. If they are comfortable on the back when you sit down I would say go for them. (I am still kicking myself for not getting these ones!)
I would be honest about the trench: I don't like this red color on you. By comparison you look much better in the previous pic with a purple jacket. I like the shape and fit though, maybe sleeves should be shortened a bit?

Maybe I need to adjust my computer monitor...I can't really see the sleeve seams on the purple jacket; however I LOVE what I can see. That purple looks great on you and I like that shape a lot.

I'm not crazy about the red on you either.

I don't know where boots should hit a person on the leg...they look good to me.

Gosh, I love everything. I love the purple jacket--such a gorgeous color on you. It is hard to tell the sleeve from the shadow though so I can't really comment on fit. LOVE the boots. I keep going back and forth on ordering them. They look great on you! Is the shaft shiny? Do you think you will be able to tuck jeans into them okay?

LOVE the fit of the trench. The color is gorgeous. It seems that if you wear a lot of black/blue/olive that it will be supremely versatile for you. The sleeves seem a wee bit long--is this petite?

ETA: The boot height looks perfect to me. They look like they hit right below the knee at the perfect place. Was this TTS or did you prefer the 1/2 size up. (Sorry for 20 questions.)

Luv the purple and olive together! I'm not sure about how that style jacket should fit, so I'll leave it to the experts.

I do like red trench coats, but this one seems to bring out the red in your skin tone. Do you think it could just be the lighting or camera angle?

You got the Blondo boots already?! I think they look great on you! Your other boots have a lower shaft than these? Hopefully mine will be here tomorrow or the next day!

I didn't like the AS jacket when I saw it in the store (didn't try on), but I really like it now that I see it on someone. And I quite like that color on you. So that's a keeper in my book. The boots I love; I think they look great on you. I have to say that I am not loving that color red on you; I'm a fair-skinned blonde like you, my skin has a ruddy tone, and I find a lot of the red shades, especially near my face, to be very difficult to wear.

I LOVE the AS jacket on you. Both the color and I like the waist-surrendering, slightly oversized fit. I think it looks modern. The sleeves, rather than being 3/4, look bracelet length on you so fine! And I don't see a shoulder seam issue, again I think the drop shoulder style is modern. The color combining with this skirt is divine, too. I truly feel that shade of blueish purple is one of the most flattering I've seen on you.

I love the boots too! They don't look too tall on me, I like the look of tall boots, way more leg lengthening than the typical "tall" boot. Can you sit comfortably in them?

Regarding the red coat, I'm not crazy about it. It feels overwhelming, although I like it from a practical standpoint (safety color and good length for biking and all).

Sarah feeling a bit envious! I want that jacket. Saw it online and thought it was stunning. It looks superb on you. Love the color against your hair color and the fit looks perfect.

The boots are also stunning. I would keep.

I love everything about the trench but am questioning the color. I'm not sure it's the best red for your coloring (but I am no expert). Perhaps adding a scarf in another color would make it work better.

Love the boots and don't think they are too high. Also love the first jacket on you - I think you would have many style options. Not too sure about red if it isn't a colour you normally wear.

The color of the Amber Sun jacket is superb on you, but to my eyes it looks too big overall.

If the boots are comfortable and give your knees room to breathe while sitting and standing, I vote keep.

I love the idea of a bold trench, and this one looks like ti has a great fit. I'm not totally sold on this color, though.

I'm chiming in with similar opinions as everyone else. I like the blue jacket and its boxy style as a new shape for you, and I think the boots are just right....not too tall at all.

I'm not sold on the super bright red trench, however. I understand the desire to inject some bolder color, but I think red is tricky to get just right. This tomato-y red seems too harsh for your very fair complexion.

To my eye, the AS jacket looks too big; an XSP if it came it that size would be perfect on you with shorter sleeves and a scaled back lapel since the color is great on you. However, if you would normally wear sleeved tops underneath and you are wearing a cami or tank under the jacket in the photo, try it on with a sleeved top and maybe that would take care of the shoulder fold.

Love the boots! I am excited. I ordered them too. I have high hopes! I have to replace my tall black boots that broke in spring. If they are this good on you, they may even fit me!!

I have that MK trench from last year. I think it is phenomenal. It fits you perfectly and the color is so nice. I love the zip out liner too, although it can be a pain. Sometimes it moves around when you are putting the jacket on.

I am not key on the AS jacket. I may just not be used to the fit. It looks a little, I don't know, almost frumpy?

I love the purple jacket! I love the color on you and the different style. It looks like the boots fit well, too! I wish I could find boots that tall on my leg. I'm not sure if I love the red of the trench. Too me, it looks like it's overtaking you and I see the red, not you.

The boots are great. I am not sure about the other two. The purple jacket is a fantastic color on you but I wonder if this style needs a more precise fit in the shoulders to really work. Like Sveta etc I would love this trench in another color - does it come in another color?

Yes to the boots - fit, styling looks great
Purple jacket - great colour on you. I see what you mean about the shoulders - where the seam falls is slightly beyond your shoulder edge. But with the style of the jacket it doesn't really matter to my eye.
Trench - fits perfect, but this colour does you no favours. As others have suggested, perhaps a scarf might work to break the colour up next to your skin.

The boots don't *look* too tall, so if they feel good I say KEEP! Great style for you.

I like the purple jacket. I think it's supposed to look big and swingy, and besides, you want room to wear a bulky sweater underneath, right? The cool toned purple brings out the color of your eyes and makes the ruddy tones in your complexion recede.

Since you don't wear make-up, I'm going to vote no on the red trench.Like AJ and others have noticed, the bright color accentuates the red in your complexion. However, I noticed it also came in a mink/twig/ taupe color (yes, I was drooling over it myself) and that might be very nice on you! I think the size and fit of it are very good!

Boots and trench - k-word worthy! LOVE them on you, Sarah. I vote keep those. Great quality and what I call no nonsense pieces.

The purple jacket needs a little more filling out on the shoulder so I vote return. Coincidentally, you will see that on my petite client tomorrow and it hangs more squarely on her shoulders but is just as boxy on the waist (it's meant to be and we love that part!). My client LOVED this jacket and bought all the colours.

I'm chiming in a bit late, but I love the boots & trench (I bought the same trench, and just posted my own K/R post!) Both fit well, and look good.

The purple jacket looks a little droopy around the collars and shoulders. Love the color though!

The boots look great, that is an absolute keep for me. I'm so jealous - in a good way - I'm still on the look for black boots to replace my worn out pair.

As far as the purple jacket, it is a little on the big size, as far as the shoulder seam but I like it! It looks intentional, since think the overall style, I.e. boxiness and loose fit, allow for that extra room in the shoulder. It is not a 10 for me but a high 9.

As far as the trench, I think I will be in the minority since it think it is too roomy. It is a trench, so you need room, yet i think this is too much room. Is this a petite? If not, I think petite will look better. The arm length might need alteration too. Also, I don't particularly like that "bubble" I see in the back area - see pic 5 - where there is a lot of extra fabric bulging out. I think that is a sign that the back is too big. I have not read any of the other responses, so feel free to disregard my comments, if the gals have agreed that the fit is good.

As far as the color, red can be tricky so I can see your hesitation. Sadly, I don't feel this is the best color for you. Gals like us, with a pinkish skin undertone, have to be cautious with red near our faces. Perhaps you don't mind that at all. In that case, I think red is a very versatile color for outerwear.

ETA: jeje I see Angie blessed the trench... I had a feeling...

I love the red jacket and the boots.
Something about the purple jacket seems off to me though. It seems to overwhelm you between the droopy shoulders and the large lapel. I like the idea though... you just need a more streamlined version.

Ok, there seems to be consensus on the boots - I will keep them, since I need another pair of black boots like I need a hole in my head ; ). But, you know, they ARE waterproof.

I will return the purple jacket and spend a bit of time feeling sorry for myself that I am one of those petites who really does need to buy petite sizing, instead of one of Angie's many clients who are petite, but can get away with regular sizing!

I think I'll probably take more photos of the MK trench in natural light and see what I (and probably you all) think of the red.

If you're uncomfortable with that red color near your face, try using a scarf at the neck and see if that feels/looks better to you.

I share your angst about being a petite...it's so frustrating to fall in love with an item only to find that it doesn't come in petites. And petite sizes fly off the shelves so darned fast you'd BBQ or you lose out. Grr...
