OK, so I took adavantage of killer sales and ordererd a bunch of tops from Lands End (yes, high couture, that's me). The first two, I've already worn, so am keeping, but the following three, I'm on the fence and would appreciate some feedback.

1. Green cashmere pullover - I'm not crazy about the crew neckline, but otherwise, I lurves it, it's staying.

2. Cobalt cashmere tunic - you know I'm keeping this.

3. Charcoal cotton pullover - this is sort of a sweatshirt material with embroidered roses on the front. Husband thinks it's nice enough for work, especially if paired with trousers instead of jeans (and given where I work, it's plenty nice enough). Leaning towards keep.

4. Green silk tunic - when I put this on I rejected it immediately b/c it felt flimsy, but now that I see the pics, I'm thinking it actually looks pretty good. I'd wear it with actual jeggings (as opposed to slim pants like here). Firmly on the fence.

5. Charcoal ponte tunic with applique flowers on the belled, 3/4 sleeve. I lurves this in theory, but in reality, I fear it looks frumpy. It's delightfully comfortable, and once again, I'd wear it with actual jeggings, and not slim pants shown here. Husband likes it. I'm leaning towards sending it back, especially if I keep #4.

I'm looking for honest feedback, so fire (gently) away. Thank you!

I think the silhouettes are all quite similar so not sure you would want to keep all of them. I prefer the length of 3 over 5.

What really caught my eye is how absolutely freaking fabulous you look in the cobalt blue in #2. You need to buy more different shapes in this color. I find that often if someone looks great in cobalt, she also looks amazing in deep fuchsia.

I LOVE 4: the colour & the drape & neckline are very sumptious and flattering. I know you have quite a few slim trousers, so I bet it will turn into a wardrobe workhorse too. I like 3, but it's not as drapey as 1, 2 , & 4, so I'm not as in love with it. I can't see the embroidered roses, but if it were me I'd keep it for that alone. lol I do think it'd be work appropriate w trousers. I vote return for 5; the colour is off I think, and I'm not as big a fan of the cut.

And of course you are positively scrumptious in 2! The colour in 1 is gorgeous on you & you're so clever w scarves that you can 'fix' the crewneck easily, so I can see why you love it.

What a good shopping haul.

1 and 2 are great. 3 looks a little wide in the shoulders to me, which is weird since it looks like it's raglan. There's some extra space there. The color and shape of 4 are good, but only you can decide whether the fabric is sturdy enough. 5 seems a little big? I dunno, it looks baggy in the wrong places.

I might be influenced by the colors too much - sometimes it's hard to capture a neutral piece in photos that well - so take my assessments with a grain of salt.

Agreeing with the others, I just love 2. Both colour and style are wonderful on you.
I also think 1 and 4 are keepers.
3 seems a bit short and boxy, and as Laura says it's hard to photograph this colour. And I'd choose 4 over 5, partly for the colour but also for variety ( silk blouse v. knits). It would be great in spring or summer too.

I like 1, 2 & 4... I like you in gray a lot so it's not a color issue. I think you could do better than those two examples. (I try every year & always end up walking away from Lands End & Eddie Bauer tees... they just lack line or drape or edge or something for me. Have you looked at Aritzia's tees? I liked several there this year... They are just a little more like blouses and have more interest around the open cut of the neck or the asymmetry of the hem.)

You look amazing in number 2. Your face comes to life. It is definitely a keeper.
I prefer 4 over 5. I love the richer colours on you. Perhaps a pretty scarf with the charcoal tops.

Along with loving 1 and 2, I'm going against the trend: I like 3 on you. I like the proportion and it doesn't have those girly touches that distract me on 4 and 5. You obviously know how to style (from 1 and 2), and I'd rather have you picking jewelry and wraps using your eye, than having to work around the details of the shirts. Yummy!

I love 1 - 4; 5 is fine but not terrific and not as nice as the other gray one, so I might consider returning that one. I actually love the first one, the crewneck and I think that long necklace sort of counteracts any issues with the crewneck. I was going to suggest an infinity scarf (or one tied that way) could also be a way to disguise the crew if it's not your favorite. That one was actually my favorite, and I also agree that the you look stunning in cobalt.

I really like the two you have chosen to keep. I am not thrilled with 3 or 5 so would pass on those. Could just be me, but they don't sing on you like the others. Torn on #4.it is nice, but not in league with first two.

Thanks so much for your feedback all. I think I'm sending them all back (except the first two sweaters which have already been worn and which met with resounding aproval anyway). I have a charcoal grey wool pullover that looks almost exactly like #3. I have a teal green gauze popover very similar to #4 - it is not nearly as luxurious, but it's similar enough that I really only need one in my wardrobe. And #5 just doesn't fit properly - it makes me look like I have a big shelf of a bottom, when in reality I have a flat bottom.

I don't need much more in the way of clothing, but I definitely could use another tunic or two, so will keep looking until I find something that I love, not something I'm on the fence about.

#2 is my best. Great colour and fit.

I like #1 next. Good piece.

I'm not sure about #3 from the side. I think a welted sweatshirt might be a better idea.

I vote return #4 and #5.

My favorite is #2 the cobalt. Clear winner. I am attracted to #3 because, and this is just projection, some days I just don't want to wear color. I also like #1.

1 and 2 are true stunners. Color is such a powerful tool for you -- and these are knits that are shapely, but not clingy, and I know how hard they are to find!

#4 is a lovely color, and I think a couple of silky tops would certainly be fab in your wardrobe, but I'm not completely sold on this one.

I'd return the last two, but look for a terrific modern sweatshirt. Angie is, of course, wise when she suggests one with a welted bottom.

I think the high couture means beautifully fitted garments that flatter the women who travel to Paris to buy them. Our equivalent is finding fashion "houses" that "get" us and make us look and feel terrific while we go about our real lives. Perhaps your fashion house is Fin de Land?

Another vote of confidence for you on 1 and 2. They look gorgeous on you. I agree you should hold out for other pieces that you feel more sure about.
