Thrifted items for your review:

1-2) A while ago, I was watching a travel show and the host had on an adorable short brimmed, floppy hat made of straw. I have had my eye out for one and was pleased as punch that my favorite thrift store came through for me again! The straw is very soft and pliable, so I'm hoping that means better quality. Now, I must admit that thrifting a hat is not something I normally do, but I inspected it carefully and it looks like it was never worn. I left it out in the sun to zap any cooties and now the tags are off! SQUEE!

3) There is something about this zippered shirt (brand: Fiorlini International) that has a boyish charm to it that I think will add some fun to my shorts and capris. Admittedly it is a little big, but for under $3, I can experiment a bit with my sewing machine. What I need to know: is the scale of the plaid too big for my shape?

4) "Who IS this person?!!" That's what I asked myself when I tried on this little LBD (brand: MSK $6) in the dressing room. Not the infamous Bailey dress, but this tiered number makes me feel like a 10! However, since "sexy" is outside my usual style parameters, I need your discerning eyes. Is it too short/young/trampy? Honest opinions really needed here.

5) I just read in June's Instyle "Gold accessories can come on a little strong for your LBD in summer, so opt for silver, a more fashion-forward metal." Which styling do you prefer, the gold or silver?

I look forward to your suggestions/comments/warnings, LOL!

AJ, you look SO ADORABLE in that hat! It almost has a 20's flapper vibe. And I love the turquoise and pink you paired it with--perfect spring outfit! The plaid shirt I'm not feeling as much--I think it would look better with a smaller print. But the LBD? Vavoom! You must keep! Go on a date ASAP!!! I like the silver accessories better than the gold, but I generally prefer silver/platinum myself.

LBD is spectacular on you, truly. What a find! I think I actually prefer gold with your skin tone but both versions are nice.

The LBD is the showstopper. I tend to like silver but not always and in this case I think I prefer it with the gold, but you look amazing either way. Great find! (Great hat too!)

That LBD is AMAZING on you. I like both, but personally prefer the gold (I think gold with black was their suggestion a month ago? something to keep us buying I assume)

The hat is adorable, and the LBD is absolutely a keeper! It is not at all too short or too anything - it is perfect! I find gold more flattering to your skin tone, but you really can't go wrong either way. You could even do brightly coloured accessories instead of metallics!

AJ, I hardly ever wear gold myself, I think silver suits me better. But wow, you do look great in gold! Wear what looks best on *you*, not the dress. Which... sigh!!! is gorgeous

@Lisa - Yes, on the hanger, the open shoulder made me fear for my IT shoulders, but I was pleasantly surprised that it worked!

@Shevia - It's funny because I usually grab my silver accessories more than my gold, but when I looked at both stylings side by side, I do think the gold is a tad more flattering.

@Jjsloane - Yes, magazines and their "next big thing" or "so right for now." I was telling my daughter (8 yrs) about the Instyle LBD suggestion and she said, "Oh, who cares about the magazines! It should be you first, then me, then Angie and lastly the magazines!" LOL! I loved her fashion hierarchy!!

What a great haul! Love the hat on you and can see you having fun with the plaid shirt. The black dress is stunning, especially with your gold accessories. Your DH needs to take you out someplace special to wear that outfit.

I don't think the paid overpowers you because the shirt isn't long or longsleeved. It looks good with the shoes you are wearing. You are so creative that I know you will find some great ways to wear this shirt. The plaid peeking out from inside your leather jacket next fall?

Thumbs up to everything! I like the black dress with the silver accessories. I think it fits your style better better because it is more subtle, but gold looks good too, just a different vibe.

U look cute in that hat. How about wearing that hat with a beach wear, maxi dresses and flipflops.
The plaid top is good but the checks are too big making you look fat. Can you find some tops like the one in smaller checks?
And all the ladies have already complimented you on that black dress and same goes from me. You are looking absolutely gorgeous and sexy with some shoulder showing. You can wear some statement neckpiece with that LBD like the picture.

What a fun set of thrifting finds! The hat is perfect; SO adorable on you. And really practical, too. I think I know that kind of straw you mean, and if I'm right, it's basically crushable, so you can stuff it in a big tote if you don't want it on at some point.

I'm one of the few who seems to like the plaid shirt. I think it has fun possibilities as a layering piece and works well with the sandals you've shown. I think the scale works fine for you. Obviously, it's all on whether you can make it fit to your standard and play well with the rest of the wardrobe.

As for the dress, STUNNING! I like it with both gold and silver.

I really love the hat and the black dress!
