The rain jackets came and sadly the grey one didn't fit (I don't think another size would help either). The black isn't bad though, it's definitely the best one I've tried so far, even though there are still some fit issues.
#1-4
The length is alright and closing the zipper wasn't a problem, although there could be a bit more room around the hips. The hood is really great, adjustable so it really fits.

Wore my loungewear fleece under it in the pictures to test the layering. I would probably buy a new layering fleece jacket for the trip. I'm a bit hesitant if it would be warm enough in really bad weather, the jacket really is only a thin rain jacket. Of course on the positive side it would be alright to wear with just a tee under it too in case it's warm.

Tightening the sleeves to adjust the length. The sleeve length is definitely bothering me because I'm so used to shorter sleeves now. To go about my day I would have to tighten them and I don't really like that.
So, what do you think? I'm thinking about trying another store tomorrow - that brand is supposed to be cut for the more womanly figure and they do alterations too. Might end up being more expensive though. I do have some days to decide whether to return this one, although I could always order the jacket again if I find nothing else in the next few weeks. It's from this year and was full price.

I was in two more stores today and tried some more jackets on. I found two other options, but I don't have any pictures. I tried the jackets directly in the store and I didn't want to take pictures with people looking.
The first one (#7/8) is Schöffel. It's a Gore-Tex jacket. It's longer so definitely covers all of my behind and there's enough room for the hips even with a warm fleece under it. The sleeves are shorter than on the Marmot jacket too. The hood is also nice. They had the navy in the store and it was a nice neutral navy (darker than in pic #7). But it was 250€ and that's definitely too much. I've had a look online and I could order it in black for 170€. The Marmot jacket is 130€, for comparison (it's not Gore-Tex but one of their own fabrics). The Schöffel was definitely slightly roomy in the size 38, but the 36 was too small. The fabric was soft, it felt quite nice.
The second one (#9/10) was Jack Wolfskin. I've had a JW jacket as a teen and really liked it, but I'm a bit sceptical about them now. To me it seems that in the last ten years they've changed quite a bit, now targeting mostly people in the 'urban jungle'. This one was originally 170€ (overpriced IMO), but I found the jacket in navy for 125€ online. It has kind of an a line shape, so enough room for the hips without being much too big on top. Also longer than the Marmot jacket. The sleeves were shorter than on the Marmot jacket, but longer than on the Schöffel jacket. It's not Gore-Tex but a JW fabric, Texapore. The hood was fairly nice and adjustable and the fabric was lovely too, it had a bit of a cotton feel. The fit was slightly roomy, similar to the Schöffel jacket. This one was nice, but I'm just not sure if it would be as effective as the other two (although that may be prejudice on my part).
Both of the jackets felt fine with a fleece jacket and maybe just a tad too roomy wearing only a t-shirt. But the Marmot was best with at least a sweater too.
So that's it. Any thoughts?
