K/R - Green Blazer (ETA skirt pic added)

So I bought the lovely magenta blazer last week instead of green because the fit and colour were gorgeous, and so I said "bye bye" to green. However, when I thrifted my new LBD last week I also found this green Nygard blazer. It is the vibrant colour I wanted, has 3/4 length cuffed sleeves, is fully lined and the fabric has a bit of a raised "waffle" pattern. The fabric is a blend of cotton, linen and silk and is very soft to the touch. It's kind of a boxy fit (not fitted) but that's the style of the jacket. It was also under $10.

I haven't really styled it here other than pairing it with some jeans and slipping on my green shoes. What do you think colour and fit wise? Is it a keeper or do I return?

Well I like it.. a lot! The fits seems good. The cut works well on you and the color is TDF!! And I think the 'waffle' pattern actually gives it a slight retro look. I would be keeping this one

Shannon, one day you and I must go Thrift Shopping together. I was just discussing with DH this morning my desire to visit the US to meet some of you lovely ladies:)

Hmm, I like the color and the texture but I'm not crazy about the shape. It seems a little too short and boxy, and I don't love how the sleeves and hem hit right around the same length. I feel like this type of swingy shape works better as an outerwear item than as a blazer.

I love the color and texture of this jacket. I think the jacket looks great on you, and while it may be more boxy than form fitting, I like it! If the shape bothers you, maybe you could take in the sides in the seam near the waist, if that makes sense, or perhaps a top that peeks out from the hem might help the shape.

I have taken another look at the front on pictures in the light of the comments, but I have to say I still think this looks so fab. In some ways a slightly different silhouette that what we are used to on you but I think you are rocking it. It is a bit boxy but I find that to be a really attractive look. If the jacket were longer you could be in frumpy territory but the length looks just right. This jacket would potentially work over a pencil skirt too.

I think Carole has several great ideas. While the color and waffle are very nifty, something about the front doesn't seem 100% right. Congrats on the cool find!

I don't know Shannon, see this is where price matters to me. I wouldn't let you pay $200 for it, but I think for under $10 it's definitely a keeper! The color is great, the fit seems right on, and so what if it's not the latest cut? I like the fact that the back is curved and fitted and I'm guessing it's pretty flattering in 3D/ motion. In fact, it's very similar the the cut of the eggplant one I fitted on my client today. I could totally see you rocking this (and yes, I love it with the skinnies and green shoes)! Scrunch those sleeves, baby!

Maybe it would be worthwhile tomorrow evening when I have some time, to pin the sides making the jacket a bit more fitted and posting pics to see if any better???

I have to chuckle on Deborah's "Canada is alot like Australia" - yeah but colder?
Love the color, not crazy about the cut of this jacket, Shannon. I think it is too long for a boxy shape - I would like it better shorter. Maybe it can be altered to be more fitted?

I'm with Diana re. the sleeve length hitting right at the bottom edge of the jacket--I find that combo really hard to wear. It just looks like a box somehow. Can you scrunch or cuff the sleeves up a bit to see if that helps at all?

I love it! The color is delicious. I can't get past the happy color. But I did go back to further examine the fit and style and I still love it! The length is perfect on you and I love the cuffed 3/4 sleeves. What a steal.

I love the color and texture on you, but I'm wondering if the shoulders a bit broad - it seems that way in the last pic. What do you think?

I'm wondering if this is a little bit of the case where pictures aren't quite showing the item accurately. The jacket is a petite and the correct size for me. The seam on the shoulders where the shoulder pads end (when arms are completely down at my sides) is exactly at the end of my shoulders, so fits correctly there.

Anyway, all this might be somewhat of a moot point - I can't find my receipt anywhere and even my thrift store will not refund or exchange without a receipt. I may have to just figure out how to make this baby work no matter what!

You know with your hands on your sides in the last picture - I think it would be a great jacket altered to a more fitted shape - and back looks already pretty fitted. Scrunched sleeves make it so much more modern. Have you tried to belt over it for a more fitted look?

Yes, I like this with the skirt, pop and scrunch! And we all know you have an amazing tailor who could put a couple of vertical darts on each side of the front.

I actually like the jacket, Shannon! I think what is throwing me is the sleeve length, as Jonesy mentioned. I feel like I want them to be either slightly shorter or full length.

I'm not reading other comments first, so bear with me. I find this waffle style to be very casual and have a bit of poison eye for it, because I see so many women schlepping around here in Gramicci versions of this jacket. It's like oversized thermal underwear to me. I also think it's a little boxy on you. The color is fab, though, and I think it could work for casual wear.

Off to see if I'm totally off-base!

I was thinking what Sveta said. I like it a lot in the last picture with collar, popped, sleeves scrunched, and your hands holding it to your waist. A narrow to medium belt might do the trick, possibly worn high. The color is glorious!

I would fall for this jacket because of the color too. The style is you too, a little retro. But I don't like the material.

However, I love your smiles and poses. That is worth looking at the pictures for! Makes me smile1

I like the color but feel like something in the proportion of the front-- some combo of the fit, the small collar, and the big buttons-- is not the greatest.

The length is just a little short to be worn as a full blazer with buttoned up. But for $10 its is a keep to be worn as an outer or used for layering. That would be a keep from me.

I'm with Diana on the sleeve-hem contest, sorry! But I love everything else about that jacket ESPECIALLY the price!!! So I'd definitely keep and play with cuffing, scrunching, belting, unbuttoning, etc.

Oh, and in light of other comments, want to weigh in to say that I like that it is boxier (casual) in front but fitted at the back --- you HAVE more fitted blazers and vests, and it's nice to have a change of silhouette every so often, isn't it? I guess I'm a multiple silhouette girl, so do note my bias!

ETA: Unsolicited confession. If I were in *your* FABULOUS shoes, I'd keep the jacket only because it is the perfect match. That last outfit really sold it to me!

I like the color a lot, but it seems a bit boxy from front view. Carol had great suggestions on that. I'm also hesitating a bit on the fabric, but that's a personal preference. Your smile make you shine anyway

I think it's really cute, especially with jeans, and for the price it is worth testing it out wearing it a few times if you're not sure!

Not sure, it seems kind of dated. I would keep my eyes open for something more current and better fitting.

Shannon, I vote return. It just isn't up to your current standard in fit, and style -- color aside.

Thank you all so much for your feedback and wisdom. I've looked at the pictures again and totally get what has been pointed out regarding sleeve length, boxiness, fabric, etc. I don't think I want to spend $30 to alter a $10 jacket, which although would give me a custom fit, may still look dated due to the fabric.

I have looked everywhere for the receipt but it's long gone so will try to return without it since they know me there but if not, I'll just re-donate it and move on.
