K/P square toe boots

In counting my clothes I found these boots that fit well but have been stored for a few years. They need a polish but shall I keep/purge or store?

I don't store many items and am prepared to do so for the odd thing.

I can't see the toe very well. My questions would be are you excited to wear them & how do they work with the rest of your wardrobe?

Earlier this year I purged some square toed boots. I wasn't excited to wear them, and their shape was a bit worn down since they'd been loved for a few years, so I didn't think even with a polish they would work so well for me. They were still comfortable though so it took me awhile to decide.

I think I was also thinking about the silhouettes of my clothes now, and realizing that I was wearing more volume so more refined toes would help give a little structure to that. I haven't missed them so far.

I happily wear square toed boots, but I seem to be a minority (possibly a singularity) amongst Fabbers in this regard.

Square toes are so distinctive that they can really date footwear. I purged mine a while back. Then again, as soon as you purge these, perhaps they will come back and look fresh again!

What was your gut reaction when finding them? Didi you think, "Oh! I could polish these up and wear them (because I really like them and they make me happy)!" Or was it, "Oh, I guess I have a perfectly fine pair of brown boots."

Thank you Deb for posting those links! I still wear square toe boots because I cannot find any replacement with 13 inch circumference x 13 inch shaft. But also, I don't know what it is, but I like the square and snipped toe look for shoes. In fact I have a pair of snip toed mules --in trendy cognac-- which you've now inspired me to drag out and wear!

Kiwi, your boots look dated to me simply because they are worn-looking --- but I do know that cobblers can do miracles! I would take them to the cobbler and see what they can do. I would do this especially if you have trouble finding boots that fit. I say this as someone going on 5+ years with no luck in the tall boot department.

Interesting, mine are even squarer than these ones...

My reaction to finding them was
"Maybe I can save money on the new knee high boots....I love the leg of these..and the heel...but does the square toe work now."

I will try wearing them and see how I go - after all what have I got to lose.

I'd keep them, clean them up, wear them and see how you feel about them.

I feel like I've seen some square toes recently, so I'd hesitate to purge them just yet, especially given how you feel about the heel and the shaft of the boot.

They look pretty beat up but a good cobbler can take care of that. Before you decide to invest in refreshing them, let's see them on your feet. The toe, as others have said, don't look pretty current.

lol now I'm rethinking my purge of my square-toed booties (internal dialogue, it's okay self, they really were from the the 90's, and you really did wear them for over a decade, you can get different ones).

Actually if the square toe thing does actually begin to trend again, I'm hitting thrift stores, I've seen so many squarer toe boots there that are in pretty good shape and high quality, but appear to have been purged due to trends changing.

My thought is if you love them, then keep them and make sure you wear them. If you want to keep them just because you already own them, but they're just OK to you, then why keep something you only are OK with?
