What a great bunch you all are
Yes our family are all fine - it will be disruptive for a couple but we have come off likely.
One of my son's friends has grandparents in Kaikoura, the epicentre. Their house has suffered extensive damage and there are still aftershocks which are very upsetting. The town is cut off in all directions so people are being evacuated out, mostly by helicopter although the weather is not complying.
The cost to people and businesses and the government will be huge.
On a slightly lighter side, one of the pilots doing some of the transporting is Richie McCaw, the World Cup Rugby Captain, now retired. Some will have had a big thrill being flown by him.
