I have 3 wardrobe items that I'm not sure about.

First is this blue skirt:

I had this fabric sitting around, and decided to make a skirt out of it one day because I had an urge to sew. I love the color, but it's kind of a stiffer fabric, and I"m not sure if the skirt is too poofy. This is how I would probably wear it this spring (but with shoes & stuff - I was in a hurry this morning). What does everyone think?

I know the skirt is too long, but I'm not sure of the print. It's a pretty old skirt (almost 10 years) and if the print is dated, I don't want to take the time to hem it to just above the knee. If it's OK, what could I wear with it, keeping in mind I don't like too much black by my face.

The blazer is over 10 years old. This past fall I took some time to alter it (it used to be really wide in the shoulders, slim in the hip & boxy - an awful look on me). I took in the shoulders & gave it more shape, but I'm not sure if the fit is quite right. It might be a little long. I have it belted here.

Please excuse the goofy facial expression. Please be honest, I know my taste is just slightly off, and I'm working on refining it, with your help. Thank you!!

I like the skirt! I actually like it with the grey cardi too, but maybe try a white button down vs. the crew neck tee.
And I do think the other skirt is too long, and the jacket looks too big.

I like the blue skirt. It reminds me of one I think was from J Crew that someone had questions about how to wear it.
I like the other skirt's geometric print and the colors. It just needs to be shortened a bit.
Something seems just a bit old fashioned about the jacket, although belting it is a good idea. It still seems a bit too boxy but you could wear it that way while looking for a replacement.
Ann Taylor has wonderful black jackets that would go with your skirt. I often see them at consignment and even thrift shops. To make your skirt look more smart casual, it could be worn with a denim jacket as in Angie's blog today.

Thanks! I'm glad you guys like the blue skirt. I need a bunch of new spring/summer clothes this year after loosing a bunch of weight, and I was thinking of going for mostly blue/yellow/white/grey pieces. I'm going to make another skirt (yellow this time) and look for some scarves & printed tops to tie them all together. Maybe some green, too.

I really like the blue skirt. I think it looks nice with the grey cardi. You could try wearing a black cami and the grey cardi with it too. Other color suggestions are yellow, orange, cream. (You have great legs)

I do not care for the jacket. It just seems kind of old ladyish to me.

I think the patterened skirt would be great if it was above the knee. I'd pair it with red, grey, green, cream, and wedgewood blue.

And your son is adorable!

I like the blue skirt, think the patterned skirt would be good if shortened (and maybe made a bit slimmer?) and I REALLY don't like the blazer--like Nicole said, it looks old-ladyish to me.

You look great when you smile big like in the last pic! So pretty! You should take all your photos with that not at all "goofy facial expression."

I totally agree with what everyone has said.

Blue Skirt: KEEP! Love it, it's a color I don't think I have seen much out there in the stores, awesome!

Pattern Skirt: I am not crazy about the pattern but it might improve shortened, so that you don't get as much of the pattern.

Blazer: Dated for sure, something about the shape. I think a modern, fitted black blazer would flatter you much more!

I'm not with everyone else on this one, I like the blazer. Instead of dated it looks classic to me and if paired with a more modern, edgy piece could be doable.

I'd convert the patterned skirt to a pencil.

I really like the blue skirt, Christine. I think the length is about right, too (I could be wrong on this, however). The color is delicious!

What's throwing me off about the black jacket - the sleeves. I wonder if they could be shortened a bit?

I really like the blue skirt Christine, and I love how you have paired it with the grey cardi (others have made excellent colour suggestions already). And you really do have great gams!!

I could see the other skirt work as a just above the knee A-line skirt as well. I quite like the pattern. Do I see some blue-grey in there? Then you could try it with a top in a similar colour, or maybe with a red top? Or with a crisp white blouse with elbow-length cuffed sleeves and a cute pair of coloured shoes...

Thank you so much everyone. Your suggestions were great, and just confirmed what I was thinking. The blazer is in the pile that will leave the house soon, and I'll get on shortening that skirt.

Oh, and Carissa, Gabriel is definitely a keeper. He gives awesome hugs.
