Keep or return - booties and dress

Here are 2 new purchases I am on the fence about. I'd love to hear your opinions, please help me decide!

1. My first attempt at booties. I decided to try Fly London after seeing Medusa's and Renata's, although this is a different style. I am not sure if the ankle fit is right, and if I can wear them with skirts. If not, should I try the YLF store booties next? I only want to keep these if they are appropriate with skirts.

2. Shirtdress - I really like this one, but it only comes in black. It's an all-season dress, the fabric is substantial enough. But I am guilty of black overload, and it's not my best color. I do want a shirtdress, but what are the chances of finding something in the right color? The sleeves can be rolled and tabbed, so I am showing both versions.

I'm kinda new, but when I clicked on your picture...LOVE LOVE LOVE the booties!!! They are so cute!! The shirt dress is really cute too, it looks lovely on you (totally guilty of black overload here as well) Some habits are hard to break ;o)

Both look like keepers to me, Marianne. The ankle fit on the booties looks pretty good to me - I tried on a whole bunch this fall and couldn't find a comfy bootie with a snug ankle so it's definitely challenging!

The black dress is perfection on you! I know how you feel about black - I am trying to get myself out of the same rut but this dress looks so fabulous on you!! Just add colorful accessories - jewelry, scarf (Angie's ascot which I remember you have done before), shoes etc.

Btw, I think we have the same shirt dress. It's beautifully made, substantial quality and fits like a dream. And the sleeves are long enough! I'm wearing it here. I always swap out the belt:

Renata, I am sorry, I thought yours were the same as Medusa's. Did you get your regular size? I am still trying to decide between 2 sizes. I typically wear 39, and in these 40 feels much better, but it does slip off a little at the heel. Did you have to break them in at all?
Angie, yay, we're twins! I did think your dress looked similar (which was reassuring ), but didn't notice the pockets at first. I was also very impressed with the quality, and I wasn't sure I could find something comparable in a different color.
Hurray, I got permission to sneak 2 more black items into my closet!

You look fabulous in all of the pictures. No wonder you bought the dress even though it's black, it looks wonderful on you. Enjoy and wear it as if it's the only black item you have. It is the perfect shirt dress and goes with your hair color. When a person has black hair they get a pass go for free card on wearing more black than the rest of us. (I made that rule up! Dress it up with some silver jewelry and you won't feel weighed down in black. Or some colorful jewelry to bounce off the black.
The booties are SO CUTE in black. I want them now too!!!
The length of your sweater is perfect. It's longer than alot of sweaters and looks so good.

I also see that Zappos has no Fly London shoes at this time. If you don't mind being totally coppied maybe you would share where you got those too?
I would be wearing that outfit right now if I had it. I love that all black except for the white line of the booties and then whatever you decide to accessorize with.

Sandy, you are so sweet! The dress is Esprit, and Endless carries Fly London shoes, and these booties are on sale. I wonder why Zappos doesn't carry them. For some reason I've been buying more from Endless lately, maybe because their search is better
