keep? or keep looking? faux fur vest

I went to the Rack today to check on the rumor that they will accept regular Nordstrom returns and was gleefully happy to learn that this rumor was indeed true. I was so happy that I browsed the racks for a while. I tried on a beautiful belted faux fur vest in black which seemed like a winner, but it was black and so much of my wardrobe is already black...
so, I found this one. I liked the fact that it was not black, and the back isn't fur and it might allow me the occasional bat for team RATE. What do we think. I tried to get pics of it just over the dress I was wearing but could hear you all asking to "see it over jeans" so in my 100 degree house, I donned jeans and a tee just for you all.

What do we think? Casual tough girl charm or an unflattering boxy mess? And, what should I make for dinner?

oh, and I lied in the thread about Rack shopping tips... our Rack DOES have shopping carts! I don't think I had ever noticed them sitting over in the corner and probably wouldn't have if we hadn't just had that conversation

Sorry, QM, but I think this is kind of box-tastic, and not in a good way. You can do better!

For dinner, how about sliders, or this:

Chicken-rice Roger

2 1/2 fryer or 2 packages frozen breasts or thighs, thawed (I use thighs)
vegetable oil
1 cup uncooked rice
1 tablespoon grated onion or half a garlic clove minced
2 chicken-bouillon cubes dissolved in 1 3/4 cups water, or 1 can chicken broth
3 ounce can of mushrooms
some flour

Coat the chicken with flour (I put it in a large Ziploc bag and shake, a couple of pieces of chicken at a time), and brown the chicken in a little oil.

While it browns, put the rice, salt, and pepper in a greased casserole, and strew the grated onion about. Put in the mushrooms, juice and all. Arrange the chicken artfully on top. Pour the bouillon over it. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for an hour. (I uncover it for the last 15 minutes or so.)

This makes great leftovers -- I make it with 6 or 7 chicken thighs and it makes a dinner for the 3 of us plus 3-4 individual portions to freeze for work lunches. (Adapted from "The I Hate to Cook Book" by Peg Bracken.)

That chicken dish sounds yummy! Too hot to run my oven for an hour tonight, but I may try that on Monday when my neighbor comes for dinner.

My kids have requested mac and cheese for dinner and I think I'm happy to oblige them tonight

I love the collar on you, it really frames your face nicely. I like it better open than zipped as I think it could look a bit boxy too when zipped. Is it a touch big or too long? Regardless I still really liked it but partly it is because it is not as furry as some that I have seen. I think keep!

Erin... thanks for your input. You know, standing in the store I was thinking it could stand to be a tad shorter but I was wearing a dress and wanted to get it home to see how it worked with jeans.
I did like that the fur was a shorter nap than others.... and I liked the collar.

Sorry but i have to agree with MaryK. I personally have pretty much given up on finding a faux fur vest as everyone i've tried has made me feel like a)a box and b)a linebacker. But i hope you have better luck than me if you decide to keep looking!

As far as dinner goes, my husband is the cook in our household so i have no idea. I make a mean....plate of noodles? XD

May I suggest heading off to Macys for a furry waistcoat. They have the best selection at the moment - and most of it is not available online.

Well, I like it with jeans, but if you aren't into the boxy thing, you should keep looking. I'm sure there will be plenty to choose from this season!

I went out last night ISO a fur vest, or, perhaps more suited to my frame, a cardigan or vest with a fur collar. The one I found that I liked the best on me was at White House Black Market, but it really isn't the fashion vibe that the fur vests give: http://www.whitehouseblackmark.....#038;size=

This may be a trend I end up giving a skip: I'm short, my shoulder line is strong, and unless I find the one perfect and amazing vest in the universe, I'm going to look like an Ewok.
