"Kangaroo Keeper" handbag organizer review

Okay, my transfer bag arrived in the mail yesterday. You may remember that I was looking for something that would make switching handbags a one-step operation. I ordered ithere, where you receive a larger and smaller bag for $9.99.

So far, so good. Here it is with all my stuff in it:

April, thanks for the review! I like that the material looks soft and flexible. I saw an organizer in Dilllard's which was made of a stiff plastic material and seemed unyielding. I really like the look of yours and it will make switching bags so much easier!

p.s. The New Englander in me couldn't help but notice, is that a Hitchcock chair in your first picture?

Oh, I like it!

I like that you can keep items in the same 'pocket' in it and know exactly where the phone is, or the keys are (no more heart attacks!). I also appreciate that by being soft and flexible, it can be fit into the variety of purse bodies.

It is not designed to give any structure to the purse body itself, right?

Hee hee -- yes, that is one of my last two vintage dining room chairs. My son and I joined in a big neighborhood yard sale with the goal of funding new chairs, and I sold all but two of my old, mismatched chairs.

That one and its mate are about to take up new residence in a friend's house.

It brings back fond memories. My mom has ones just yours in her kitchen, and I had cream Hitchcock furniture in my girlhood bedroom. *sigh*

MNS -- sorry, I missed your question before. The bag itself is not rigid, but it would give structure to a handbag if you put structured items in it. For example, my wallet is hard-sided, and my cosmetic bag is substantial enough that when both items are inside the "keeper," it would give structure to a hobo or other soft bag. Does that make sense?

Love it that you took pictures for us, April. Thank you! And the contents of your bag look so organized, even without taking the transfer bag into consideration. I should take notes;-)

It looks very handy indeed, and I think it's great that it seems to fit so many different shapes of bags.

I really like the way that looks April! Thank you for doing the review. I've been wanting to try more handbags but was flummoxed by the switching between bags. I can't tell from the pictures...do you think that it's big enough to hold a wallet and an epipen (which comes in a case about the size of a fairly large wallet)?

Christine, I think so. It's pretty expandable. I have a wallet and a substantial zipper case inside, and there is still plenty of room for my other stuff. Let me try adding another wallet and see what happens...

April, thank you so much for posting this. It's perfect timing as I find i'm not switching bags as much anymore since I tend to then leave things I need behidn in the "old" bag. If I don't fill it fully, it sounds like I can make it fit in a smaller bag, correct?

Sihaya, you get one larger and one smaller bag for the $9.99, so you could definitely use the smaller one for a smaller bag. The one I posted pictures of is the large one -- the small is identical except in size.

Melllls, yes this is the "as seen on TV" one. For some reason the TV ad wants to send you two sets of two (TWO large bags and TWO smaller ones) whereas the site I bought from sells them as one set of two, for half the price.

April, thanks for taking the time to write this review and post all the photos. This is really helpful. Like others, I don't switch out handbags as often as I should and was wondering if buying an organizer would make transfers easier. I think I may go ahead and order one of these to see...

The other feature I didn't show is that you can, if you prefer, turn the bag inside out so that all the little pockets are around the outside of the bag.

I promise I don't work for the company that makes these, but I am very pleased with this purchase.

Update, two years later: I eventually ditched the Kangaroo Keeper for a more structured (and yes, more expensive) one, because the KK turned out to be too floppy for my needs.

Now I'm using one that I'm happy with, but I don't recall what it's called. I will say this -- no matter what purse insert you select, do not choose one with a black interior. Makes it very hard to see what you're looking for.

I'm still using my tan KK and loving it! I ended up using the smaller of the two and am very happy with it.
