5. Pewter cords and yellow patent sandals
6. Merino v-neck sweater (obviously not worn with the silk top for obvious reasons!)
7. Yellow dot blouse and cropped white Matchsticks have already been approved, but is this outfit okay?
8. The outfit I wore to a meeting this morning. All I'm missing is a white watch, tee hee.

As I was leaving the store, Lauren showed me this sweater along with a cream button up blouse as another option to go with the Honey Glaze cord skirt. It's on my list. I'm beginning to realize that the list never ends. At least it keeps me focused and has completely stopped my impulse buying.

Ah, super fun shopping trip! I have the yellow top on the way. I had mixed feelings about it, but then it went on super sale and I think it will make a great layering piece. OK, here are my opinions by outfit:

#1 and #2 Fiona Jacket: love it from the side, not sure about front. Will be interesting to hear other's ideas.

#3 Denim w/Tartine: Not a fan of the boxiness created with the pencil and the open cardi. I love the pieces. Maybe try a belt or button the cardi over a tighter fitting undershirt? I'm sure the others will have tons of ideas.

#4 and #5 Ahhh! This is so perfectly JCrew! I'm totally jealous! Looks great.

#6 Do you plan on wearing this over something or by itself? I think the color is nice for you.

#7 Not sure about the length of the clamdiggers, so I will let the others respond to whether the length is right or not. That's still hard for me to figure out on cropped stuff.

#8 supercute. See my response to #4 and #5.

I really like your style, and I have a very similar body type to yours, so I find your outfit ideas really helpful. Thanks for sharing!

Fiona: 6. I think you can do better. The cut and fit don't give you definition.
Denim with Tartine: 8, but the T is not working for me.
Gold skirt: This is a 9 -- a head turner.
Jeans and Cardi: 10. Long and Lean. Effortlessly chic. Perfect.
Merino Sweater. Love the color. This it will be great with the right thing underneath. Would work with the denim skirt, too.
Yellow top: Love the yellow on you. The entire outfit is great. I say 8.5.
Today's outfit. Also an 8.5. Very nice.

Hi Sarah, love your purchases! Here are my thoughts on them:

1&2. I love the color of Fiona jacket, but it's too boxy for my taste, although I am sure that it's intentional. If that is what I wanted, I'd give it an 8, otherwise a 7.

3. Love the cardi! ( I just got it too). I'd give it a 9. The denim skirt fits you tremendously well, and it's a 10 for me. The tee is cute, but I personally would not wear it with this outfit.

4. Love that skirt on you ( the shoes are great too). It gets a 10.

5. The cords fit you perfectly as well ( i also have my eyes on them, but I'll wait for the sale). Another 10.

6. I love this color for you, perfect. I'd give it a 9 (with the right underpinning).

7. Great outfit. I envy you on being able to wear that color. I'd give it a 8.5.

8. I love what you wore today. 9.5!

Hooray! It looks like you got some great stuff this weekend and really took advantage of tax free. I went in and ordered my ladybug necklace yesterday! (It was sold). It wasn't tax free because it's considered an accessory. I got my student discount on it though and ordered it on the red phone so I didn't have to pay shipping either. I'm so excited! Did you see those ruffly sleeveless silk blouses they have? So pretty (orange was my favorite).

Anyway, on to what you bought.

Fiona Jacket: This color is outstanding on you! Really gorgeous. I love the tweedy ruffles! The jacket is meant to be a bit voluminous, and I like the fit from the side (a lot of boxy jackets pouf out over a larger chest and this one doesn't seem to do that). I have a boxy jacket from J. Crew earlier this year that fits in a very similar way. I really like your jacket on you. I'd like the velvet jacket equally as well, too, so I'd say go with whichever one makes you happiest.

Tartine Cardigan: This color is really pretty on you, too. I'm so excited you're trying color. I love this cardigan and the ruffles are a really nice detail (I like that they're built into the cardigan). Keep.

Graphic Tee: Yeah, it's not something that you really need right now, but from talking with you recently I know how much you completely love it, so I say keep. I like how you layer the cardi over it, and it would be nice under a tailored jacket as well. I'm really enjoying my greyhound t-shirt.

Denim skirt: This is nice and will be really versatile all year round. Where does it hit on your waist? You'll have to find some skirt shirts to wear over it, or else tuck some stuff in. Have you tried it with the brown argyle sweater yet?

Honey Glaze Corduroy Skirt: This is a really fun and unexpected color for a "bottom" item. I like it! I even like the outfit you've put together--casual, but not sloppy. Love the black cardi--where did you get that? AK Flats look great in cream and black, much better than the red I saw at Macy's.

Matchstick Cords and Purple Sweater: Patience and I really liked those on you when we saw them a few weeks ago. Same with the purple V Neck sweater.

I LOVE the yellow top and white clamdiggers. Very cute and summery. If you get chilly the black cardigan would look great over that.

I also really like the meeting outfit! A clean, 1.5" waist belt would look great with this outfit, too (and a white watch!).

This is exciting! (*wink* thanks for posting a separate thread). Here we go:

1. Fiona jacket colour is INCREDIBLE. I like the look. It’s supposed too be a retro voluminous style. I give it an 8.5.
2. Great denim skirt – it gets a 9.5. Super cardi. It gets a 9.
3. Yellow cord skirt is really sweet. I do not prefer corduroy but I’ve tried this skirt on its really nice. The colour is divine and makes the skirt. You look great. Shoes are fabulous. Superb little outfit! It scores a 9.
4. Matchstick jeans look INCREDIBLE. They get 10.
5. I am on the fence about the matchstick cords. I have tried them on and have popped them on clients too. I am not wild about corduroy pants. Every season I have an open mind about corduroy pants, but I find them hard to like. I’ll blog about this soon.
6. Love the Tartine cardi. It sores a 9.
7. Yellow spot and white clamdigger ensemble is fabulous! It scores a 9 too.

Thank you everyone! I tried the Fiona jacket on with a more fitted undershirt and it looked a LOT better. I will try to take a photo to show you. I think the fitted undershirt makes the jacket look volumnious vs. making me appear boxy and shapeless. The volumnious silk blouse I wore underneath for this photo does not look the best. I plan to wear this with jeans tucked into brown riding boots for the winter.
I love the graphic tee, but if I return anything, this will be it. It's really fun and fits my weekend lifestyle so long as I add a fun feminine accessory. However, I can probably find something similar for less. Or, wait for this to go on sale.
I want to get a few more things to go with the skirts, but that will wait for next trip. I really like how they fit me, and I like that they are so versatile.
The denim skirt fits up highter on my waist than the corduroy skirt. The thought (maybe it's a wrong thought) is that as I continue losing pounds it will sit lower on my waist, yet not pass the ideal skirt length past my knees.
Angie, I love the cords on me, but I'm very interested in what you'll say in the blog post. Right now I'm trying to find a jeans alternative that is work appropriate (smart casual is an appropriate dress code for my job). Skirts are nice, but because it's so chilly pants are my favorite bottom to wear to work.

Angie, I just returned from taking the cords back. And here's why:
1. I want to see what you have to say about them in your post, and I am hoping you will give ideas on denim alternatives (I can't wear jeans to work all the time)
and 2. Skirts are just easier to wear for longer periods of time while my body is changing. I purchased the cords in a size smaller than I currently am with the hopes that they would look great around the holidays. Because of my weight loss though, I need things to wear NOW.
So I exchanged the pants for this (in ivory):

Oh, I am bummed that you returned the cords Sarah ( I plan to get those too), but I understand your reasons. You do need things that work for you now. I like the ivory shirt you got, you can use it in so many ways. And that argyle cardigan is on my wishlist too, I am really drawn to it this season.

I am also very eagerly awaiting Angie's blog about corduroy. I know that it's more causal then denim, but I think that it works my lifestyle, where a nice casual outfit is already nicer then what others are wearing. And I own a lot of it too: 4 jackets, 1 vest, 2 skirts and 7 pairs of pants. Now I am seriously scared of having to let a lot of them go after I read that post

I still might get them later, Tanya. I really did like the fit on me, and that color is so luxurious. But I do value Angie's opinion and those pants would be best for weekend wear for me, and it's a tad warm here in Austin, TX to wear corduroy. And who knows, maybe they'll be on sale before too long!

Good reasons Sarah. I love the substitute purchases! You look absolutely fantastic in straight pencil skirts – wear them till the cows come home.

The corduroy debate will be an interesting one. It’s one I have every season, with others AND myself. I am not completely opposed to the look (unlike maxi dresses and crocs). I have had clients purchase them in my presence and I still sleep at night! Rest assured Tanya. I doubt you’ll need to get rid of all your corduroy

I'm thinking of getting the matchstick cords in the Sea Salt color. I love my white denim skinny jeans and have been wearing them a lot lately. I'd hate to have no fall/winter appropriate replacement for them (as I have had no luck finding cream skinny jeans).

Sarah, I didn't get a chance to respond to this post this weekend, but I agree with what everyone else said and don't have anything to add. I will say that you look fantastic and I think you made some great choices. I can definitely see you in the argyle cardigan too.

Thanks Patience! And my husband said the same thing...if the cords are meant to be, they'll go on sale right about the time I could wear them around here.
I'm wearing my purple merino sweater today with a black lace cami and black dress pants. I'm so glad I kept this sweater...it's like wearing a hug.
And Angie, I can most certainly wait. Looking forward to it!
