J. Crew ladybug/beetle belt

I know at least one other person (Maya, maybe?) has this belt and was hoping for some advice.

I bought J. Crew's ladybug belt, and I love it, but I have a small waist and the size small is still a little too big. The belt is made of a thick grosgrain ribbon. Does anyone have any idea if it would be possible to have a someone add another hole to this belt? If so, do I go to a tailor? Shoemaker? The belt isn't leather, so I was thinking a tailor, but I'm really not sure.

Yeah, that was me. I didn't want to order it because I wasn't sure if a small would fit at my natural waist, but I can't find it in any stores around here that have it for me to try on. Mine is 26". Would it be too big? I don't know if you could add another hole or not. I wonder if it would fray. Someone else would probably have a better idea.

I have that belt as well (love it!), but the small is just small enough for me to wear as a waist belt. I have a 31" waist, though.

If you did add another hole, I would have someone professional do it. They would have to add a satin stitch hem around the hole to keep from fraying, and unless you have a pretty professional sewing maching (not to mention some sort of hole punch) I don't think I would attempt it myself. I would take it to a tailor first and see what they can do. If they can't do it, they may be able to recommend someone who can.

Maya, i just measured my belt from the hook to the smallest hole and it measured 31" so you would need to have another hold put in as well.

I don't think I was going to get it anyway.

Also, I misread Steph's post as saying at least one other person had questions about this belt. I do not actually own the belt for the reasons already mentioned--Ana does. I think it was meant to be a hip belt.

I would bring it to a tailor, but instead of having them add another hole, I'd see if they could shorten it from the other end. They'd have to remove the stitching that attaches it to the buckle, then reattach the buckle further down on the belt. I'd think it would be cheaper and easier to that, then to add another hole. JMO.

Oh, that's a great idea Nicole! You'd have less flap at the hole end as well. I'd say do what Nicole suggests, it would turn out cuter anyway.
