J. Crew Factory Onine?

I just got an email from J. Crew Factory with a couple of nice looking blazers.

Does anyone know anything the quality of the Factory items compared to regular J. Crew?

I think I read somewhere that these are items that are made specifically for the outlet stores, not the regular stores, but the prices don't seem that much cheaper.

Has anyone bought from the outlet store or know what the scoop is?

I think it's like the difference between Gap and ON... better price point, cheaper quality. But since it's j. crew, the quality will be better than Gap even for "outlet" clothing.

I would be careful with garments made specifically for outlets. I have heard they the quality is generally sub-par because outlet shopping is primarily tourists who can't return anything once they return home. (Outlet merchandise can't be returned to non-outlet stores.)

Tara, I have a J.Crew factory chambray shirt made specifically for the outlet store. The quality is quite good (can't compare with J Crew shirts as I have never owned one) and is still as good even after a few washes. It is a nice heavy cotton that I find too warm for 100 deg days, which I guess is indicative of good quality cotton?

I think it's more like the difference between Gap and Gap Outlet. I peeked into a J Crew Outlet at Palm Springs, but I didn't have long enough to try anything on. Many of the factory items are also no return- so be careful.

I'm a big J.Crew fan and I don't buy from the outlet. The quality is nothing like the real J.Crew stuff. It's not worth the price IMO. You can get the same quality stuff at regular Gap on sale .... Hope that helps!

Hey, Tara. I hit up the J.Crew outlet store occasionally and all the pieces I own from there are still lovely. Sometimes items in the outlet are specifically made for the Factory store; and then sometimes the pieces in the B&M Factory store have excess from the J.Crew store.

I have ordered once from the Factory store now that they have it open online on the weekends. They offer free shipping and only the items from the clearance section are final sale. The other pieces are returnable.

I saw the email with those blazers. Definitely worth trying them, Tara.

I occasionally buy things from the Factory store. I have two silk blouses that I like a lot, and a few pencil skirts that have held up well. I say go for it!
