It's Raining, It's Pouring!

It's summer and the rain has returned. So the temps are high 60's and I need some suggestions on rain-proof outfits since I will be out and about running errands. So what does everyone wear on rainy summer days?

I asked the very same question awhile back, except our summer temps are over 100. If it was in the 60s, I'd wear:
Rubber boots (there are plenty with springy colors and prints available)
tucked into jeans
graphic tee or blouse
cardigan
water proof top layer like a trench

You could even do a pencil skirt with the rubber boots.

My rubber boots are shiny black...i wonder if that is too gloomy for a summer rain?

I'm thinking black rain boots, black skinnies, tee/cardi, bright blue trench coat.

I'm still questioning all this black, though....

I wear a lot of black, Marlene. I think it's okay if done intentionally and if you have color somewhere in your outfit.
And if it rains there a lot, you may consider getting a second pair of print or colored rain boots.

I still wear clams and flats and a regular jacket in this weather. I do carry an umbrella though. It would take a deluge for me to resort to rain boots

Well, this IS Seattle..so I think a second pair of rain boots should be added to my shopping list

Last summer, I moved up from San Diego so 90% of my summer wear is for 100 degree weather. So I definitely need to boost up my stash of cool, summer appropriate clothes.

Marlene, I'm from Seattle originally (although I was born in San Diego, go figure!) and moved to Austin, TX three years ago. I still have a very much Seattle wardrobe, and not an Austin one. It takes time to re-think your wardrobe like that.

A tip when wearing wellies- i get sweaty feet so i got some socks from an outdoorsy shop which absorb moisture from your feet to keep them dry. I also managed to find a trench style coat which doesn't look like gear from the same outdoorsy shop which is properly waterproof. I had a cheaper one from a 'fashion' shop which seemed to absorb water! i got soaked.
Apologies if this is all totally unsuitable i'm in the middle of a British summer here! ie cold and wet! x

I hate umbrellas. If its raining and not cold, I just get wet. Its water, it just dries!!!
