Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Is this too sporty for business attire?

At NAS I found these ECCO shoes. They are very comfortable and pretty. However, have sporty soles. Mostly these are not visible when wearing but I only want to keep them if they're acceptable wear for business attire - I can find something dressier for suits but could I wear this with jacket and separate trousers for example? The red is patenet and grey is suede. Both have identical soles. Thank you in advance!

Not sporty at all! I saw these shoes and was tempted, too. They look fab, and absolutely business appropriate. Enjoy.

They made this list. Naturally I think they are fab:

Biz appropriate I think.

I've also been tempted by these shoes! They will look great with trousers!

I agree that you can wear these in an office. How great that they can be dressed up for the office and dressed down for casual. Win-win!

Sadly, my bubble has burst :-(
I wore the red Ecco's for a day of work. The day started out great. Loved the shoes, loved the outfit with the shoes, and felt comfortable in them. By mid afternoon it started to feel a bit tight. By the end of the day I was hobbling in a major way and had a big red sore spot on the side of my foot. The top was too narrow. I had it stretched at Nordstrom but no luck - sometimes that works.

I'm mentioning this to others in case anyone else has wide feet. These shoes may not work even though they feel right at the beginning.

Sigh. It's always so disappointing when a "comfortable" shoe doesn't work out for our feet. I feel your pain!

Rotten luck. I saw that poor pinky toe :0(.

Bummer. I saw the red version and was coveting them!

I was just going to say "yes" on work attire.
Funny thing is that I tried Eccos last weekend and they were very wide on my foot. Guess it is one everyone should try on.

Sorry they were painful!

Oh I hate when that happens, I can sympathize, I also have wide feet. Are you sure that they will not stretch as you wear them. I have found that sometimes with wear shoes become wearable again.

I have found that sometimes shoes become wearable after wear too. I bought my now most comfortable ballet flats on a J. Crew final sale and could not return them after finding they hurt my feet with extended wear. But they were so beautiful and *final* that I kept wearing them for short periods and now, a year later, they feel like butter and I can wear them all day long.

Aww, thats too bad Sihaya. I thought they looked perfectly appropriate for work; and cute to boot! If you cannot find a way to stretch them you find something equally cute and comfortable.

Thanks everyone. I did have it stretched at Nordstrom's. I am going to give it one more shot once my feet have recovered but have backup shoes in my car. So when I go from meeting to meeting, I can switch out of them at the slightest sign of trouble.

Did you wear them without a stocking? Because if so, maybe wearing a little microfishnet trouser sock would help. Hope you can make them work.

Oh that is rotten luck, I hope if you wear them for a couple of hours at a time eventually they will be comfortable enough for a full day at work.

Thanks Laura - I'll try with trouser socks. I hadn't thought of that.

Ugh ... I have that same problem time after time with flats. There's always a spot that rubs.
