Is this scarf too boring?

I saw this scarf at the store today and I really liked it, but I didn't bring it home with me because I was unsure and it wasn't that cheap. The colors were a bit more vibrant in real life and the beige went nicely with my hair. The pink was exactly the same shade as one of my favourite sweaters and the green would be a nice addition to my normal colors. It's an extra large scarf, very cozy and warm. You could even use it as a kind of blanket while travelling, although it's so lightweight that you can wear it the normal way without a problem. I don't own any scarf that big! What do you think? Could you see me wearing it? Is it too boring?

Definitely not boring! I think it's pretty, and would be really great if it is soft!

As to whether you should buy it, you might think about whether it is different from what you have, and how you would wear an extra large scarf.....sounds like you've figured that out!

Looks very classic to me--different from the more "boho" style you sometimes wear. I bet it would look great with denim.

Isis, it is very different from what I have, so I wouldn't duplicate. I tried to play around with it in the changing room to see if it was wearable.

Kelly, you're right that it's more of a classic look than I would normally buy, hence my hesitation. Most of my other scarves have a boho feel or a wild pattern, so this is very low-key for me. I agree that it would look great with denim, that was one of my thoughts when I saw it.

It looks like a nice change for you, Astrid. If you are hesitating because of the cost, can you find out if it is likely to go on sale after the Christmas holiday? Sometimes it is worth waiting, since you already have many scarves; this is not an immediate necessity.

Having said that, I think this green would look lovely on you.

I actually like the scarf but I voted nay because I am having trouble envisioning how you would wear it in an outfit. It seems to me like you often have more conservative pieces, but then you usually add a little boho or other kind of pizazz with your scarf. I am concerned that if you wore this scarf in the same way, then it seems like an element would be missing. However I could see you using this scarf to tone down more out-there pieces. Actually, it would look great with a denim jacket and a sweater dress with cute tights and booties, for example. I think I am moving toward buy. Why are you asking me anyway? You know I always think buying scarves is a good idea. The right outfit will arise

Not sure about it though as it is so different and expensive as you say.

Suz, that's right, the favourite jeans! You're right that it isn't a necessity, so it's not really urgent. I was also hesitating because of the cost, but I still have store credit anyway. I was mostly hesitating because of the style.

Scarlet, I'm totally able to relate to your trouble, you're right that this scarf would call for a bit more thought to go into the outfit. I'm still overhauling my wardrobe anyway, but I can imagine it in many outfits. I like your idea about the denim jacket, dress and booties!

Freckles, I could see myself wearing it often in the fall and winter. It's really a soft and cozy scarf and most of my scarves are made from fabrics that seem to be more appropriate for spring or summer.

Okay, well I changed my vote to "Yay" because reading between the lines it sounds like you have scarf-love, but it's just a bit different from what normally catches your eye. I love the colors (and I always love plaid) and I am sure you can put it together in a great outfit.

I would say get it. The colours are a bit unusual, so you're not going to see it everywhere, and I'm sure you can play around with it to see how it compliments your existing wardrobe. Because it will go well with denim it's pretty much a no-brainer...
If you're really not sure, hold off for a while and see if it goes on sale.

I like this scarf for you, I think it will look great with what I already saw you wearing. It may be big, but from the picture it doesn't seem like it will overwhelm you when you wear it because the material is so soft and plyable. Can you afford it or ask Santa for a scarf buying budget?
And read your own entry, you loooove the scarf, you are just a little apprehensive becauseof the price (I found it, it is just at the price I estimated and it seems a little more bulky than I expected on the model). How about you take it home and experiment with it and if you don't like it return it?
