Ireland Travel Capsule Take One

Here is what I put together so far
Pants:
Burgundy skinny paisley embossed cords
Houndstooth skinny cords
Red plaid skiinny jeans
Black straight leg jeans (not shown)

I will be adding a skirt with burgundy, red, black print along with a plain black one.

Disclaimer my new camera has an auto focus and I was changing hangers and snapping late night and tired so didn't always wait for it to focus and didn't notice it at time of shooting.
. Anyway here are the visuals of ways I 've mixed them...
I will add scarves, necklaces and belts for finishing touches.

I also ordered a lambs wool sweater from Lands End int he Raspberry, it arrived today and is fabulous!

Tracey, the outfits are great. You're going in Oct aren't you? I worry that your clothing is too lightweight. You might need a wool peacoat. This is the UK. And the weather is often rainy and cold.

Layers, layers, layers...I know the UK can get cold. I went to London in October, and we had unseasonably WARM weather! LOL In Paris it was 23C (73F) the first week in October! You should have seen us unpeeling ourselves like onions! LOL I love all your looks and colors together, I don't think you'll have much to do from now until then...

Angie, I ordered this insulated trench from Eddie Bauer instead of taking a woo; coat due to the reputation of rain showers. It is very warm!

...and I also added a cashmere black turtleneck sweater and a green merino wool one. Will bring fleece lined tights as well...

I heard about the possibllity of 73 and can unlayer to just a tshirt with pushed up sleeves if neccessary.. actually two ot the tees are 3/4 length...

73 degree weather in October in Ireland would be wonderful, although might be fairly rare (although maybe in the south?) Layers are good as the temperature and what is falling from the sky varies a lot hour to hour. Be prepared for the off chance of freezing sleet.

Even on sunnier days, it's rarely 'dry' even if water isn't falling from the sky it's still permeating the soil and saturating the air -- great for skin actually.

Travel capsule looks fab. How warm are those toppers? Look too lightweight to me. Sure you have two wool turtles but two weeks in two turtles? Forget if you said how long your trip is or when in October.
If you're cold you can always buy some of that gorgeous Irish wool. They actually sell lovely 4 ply cashmere turtlenecks in the airport duty free but that is when leaving...
Even at 73, Ireland's 73 is much cooler than ours here and probably yours. In August not sure if it ever made it to 73...

I have so many leathers and faux leathers I was leaving out as the thought of packing or getting them wrinklied greatly concerned me.... That would definitely add a heavier topper?

Anyone pack those and have advice???

Or I could hit the thrift store for something, don't want to spend any more money on wool that won't get much use for me here in Virginia Beach...

I like the Eddie Bauer jacket. And a couple of cashmere or wool sweaters sound great. I like your outfits, but it does looks like a lot of cotton jackets. If it's not wet it might still be cool. How about substituting a wool jacket for one (or two) of the cotton ones? BTW I also like your utility jackets. I'm just questioning their "utility" in this instance!

Only wool blazer I own is blackwatch plaid, which I googled to see about wearing Scottish tartan in Ireland and read it was not a good idea. Love the suggestions !

I'd leave behind the zebra print jacket. I'm not sure you could layer much under or over it. A printed scarf adds pattern, color, and warmth and would take up little room. I'd replace the jacket with a basic crewneck cardigan, compact and easily put on or taken off. I like both utility jackets but would take only one. If they aren't waterproof or water resistant I might choose a windbreaker instead (water resistant) that could be worn with several light layers or stowed in a tote when the weather is variable.

Tracey, this has some great combos and with the additions you are talking about hopefully you will be war enough. I think I need you black quilted sweater for my travel capsule....

Carolbee one of my stores does a new version of those quilted sweaters every season , this years has square quilting instead of the circles... Wonder what next year's will be... If you'd like I can look in the Fall and send one your way!!!

JG, I think the Eddie Bauer trench (link in comments above) with removable insulated liner will be enough for water resistant needs.

In other news, DH was not at all impressed with my travel capsule photos... I think he dislikes the utility jackets and he actually said "you need prettier clothes." Whaaat????? I was going for comfort and layers, I did incorporate the burgundy and reds he loves.... Now what? after all this is a big deal to him as he is going to Ireland for the first time and meeting relatives all over the place. I guess that's the the reason for 'pretty" I think I may need to bring him back down to earth that I need warmth and layers and comfortable shoes...He said he would buy me anything to get a better look... So gonna make him come shopping and show me his definition of pretty... Sure hope this doesn't ruin our 23 year marriage, LOL... So stay tuned this is going to get intereresting!!!

Well you always look pretty so I think something is lost in translation. Maybe he means bring a dress or two? A travel dress with warm tights might be an idea for slightly dressier occasions.

In terms of jackets I don't know if classic trenches or wool coats are more common there for city wear, I remember a lot of dark neutral colors, wool, winter skirts and dresses on the older women. If you are walking around it's really helpful to have an actual raincoat too - even something small and packable in a purse -- rain resistant won't work for long unfortunately and it can be too windy for umbrellas at times.
