interview outfit: need help with pre-ylf suit

Hello (again), one more question from me....

Next Thurs I have an interview at a hospital in Melbourne. I'm a bit meeh about the whole thing because I applied for 4-5 hospitals and only got one interview, and the interview that I *did* get is at the only place that doesn't offer phone interviews for interstate applicants. Grrr. So I'm not feeling positive about getting the job, but I figure its an excuse for a trip down to Melbourne, so why not.

Anyway one good thing is that it gives me a chance to wear the suit I got made in Vietnam for the first time. This is a pre-ylf suit, so I'm hoping it passes the ylf eye! Its a grey herringboney pattern with a pinstripe through it (if that makes sense). 5 pieces: jacket, pants, skirt, shorts. Now I wish I had gotten a vest made too!!!

Pictured below is how I'm thinking of wearing it - with the Boden top, and the Fly London shoes (that I copied from Angie and a few other gals!)*

I'm a bit freaked out because I haven't been to an interview in about 5 years! Specific questions I have are:
1) I can't decide if I should wear the pants or the skirt?
2) Is the skirt too long? (shown in 2 lengths below)
3) Are the pants too short??? (they are hemmed for flats)
5) Are the shorts too tight? (I've obviously gained since they were made as they weren't as tight back then!!!)
6) Do the prints of the suit and the top clash? Are the top and shoes not conserative enough for an interview???

*Not sure if I mentioned I got these, but as soon as I heard I had the interview I freaked that I had no heeled shoes to wear and bought them from Amazon. Perfect fit and amazingly comfortable for heels - thanks Angie!!!

I like the skirt for the interview Tam, but I do prefer the shortened length. I'm most drawn to the shorts as they really fit your style.

The pattern of the shirt and the skirt work well to my eye and the heels are lovely.

Good luck in your interview, I'm crossing my fingers for so many people on the forum I fear they may lock!

On a side note I wonder if shiny will have a suit made in Hong Kong.

I love the pattern mixing with the Boden top and the herringbone suit pattern. I like that it's subtle (and interview appropriate) but fun!

I don't see anything looking too tight from the pictures you took, but I'm really torn on which bottom I prefer. I'm kind of a skirt girl myself & have never worn shorts to an interview, so I guess my preference is for skirts or pants. What do you feel most comfortable in, though?

I like the suit, the skirt and the shorts, however for the interview I would not wear the jacket with the shorts, I would choose the pants (more powerful)!

The top and suit are great together; love the pattern mixing and colors!

The shorter skirt is better, but I would probably go with the pants; they're just more flattering on you. The shorts are cool and very you, but I think too edgy for an interview.

Great pieces Tam! I would definitely go for jacket and the pants combo, I feel that it is always better to err on the more conservative side for interviews. Good luck!

I'm also voting for the jacket and pants combo as the most flattering and like the blouse with the suit. I like the shoes too but wonder if they make the pants just a tad too short for PPL. It's close, so maybe others will chime in with what they think.
When you wear the jacket buttoned with the skirt, have you ever tried belting the jacket?
I like the skirt on the shorter side on you.

Thanks for all the feedback!! Joy I haven't worn the jacket with a belt. Iam just not a belter (no waist). I admire those who pull the look off though!!

Seems like pants it is. That means I don't have to worry about bare legs vs tights, which is a relief. What about pant length....should I get them taken down???

If I need to get these altered I'll have to try and do it tomorrow. Or is current length passable?? Argh!!!

Meanwhile I'm sitting here resisting theurge to go to sleep. I start night-shift tomorrow night so to acclimatise I am trying to stay up until at least 3am tonight. Maybe I need another cuppa (sorry if I'm rambling!)

Tam, late vote sorry but another vote for the pants I think the length is ok and not too distracting. I wouldn't go out in a rush to get them hemmed right away.

Perhaps not for the interview but I'm totally digging the shorts look.

Tam, what a great suit! I love all your custom stuff. For the interview, I vote for the pants, though I think all the pieces are great. (You should think about wearing them as separates sometime, too.) I like the skirt at the longer length. I'll be interested to see where things land regarding the pant length. I'm fairly certain Angie will say that they should be longer. I sometimes wear my pants around this length because I'm still working out my ideal heel height/pant situation.

o Love the shorts best! But not for the interview :0(

o Must wear pants suit for interview. There is no doubt in my mind. Even at a suspect PPL, you pass by the skin of your teeth!!!

Oh Alecia, there was a question I wanted to ask about wearing as separates...but I might move that into another thread a bit later, just writing it down so I don't forget!!

Angie thanks for confirming pants are the way to go. I just tried them on again and have to admit that the photo is making them appear a bit longer than they actually are (maybe the angle of the camera). So I'm about to go and get them taken down I think....its just distracting me looking at it!!
