Inspired by MOTG Outfit#5

Couldn't resist giving this a whirl:

These aren't real Cons, but they are comfortable. However, I fear they make my feet look enormous!!! Why can't I pull these off like Yublocka does? Do you think I need to invest in real Con's?

Don't these shoes look better?

... this outfit also looked great with a pair of round-toe nude heels, but I was MOTG yesterday so that wasn't practical. It would be a fun outfit for a night out listening to bands.

P.s. No makeup and I didn't even wash my hair yesterday... was still sick. Was tempted to pick up the kids and run my errands in my sweats, but thanks to Angie's blog post, I got myself dressed, even if it was only for a few hours.

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon, Shiny!

I like the Cons, but I think the problem you are seeing with them looking huge is that your jeans are so skinny. I have the same problem with them and avoid skinny jeans and Converse. I avoid straight leg jeans with Cons most the time, too, so my feet don't feel so big. So, in this case, I think the ballet flats do look better, but trade your skinnies for some bootcut jeans in the Converse outfit and I think you'd be in business.

Nice jacket and graphic tee!

Great outfit Shiny! I like it with both shoes. The second pair looks more polished, but I think it works with Cons too.

tooooooooo cute!
I think Ana is right about the cons and skinnies-- but I do think it's a super cute look and I woud wear it.
Where did you get your jacket?

Ana, I actually really only ever wear these sneaks with my COH Huttons, which are wider than bootcuts. I do wonder if it's the shoe itself. My DD's wear real Con's - with skinnies - and their feet (even though they're 2 sizes larger than mine) don't look so clunky? It seems real Cons are cut narrower at the toe? And Yublocka wears Cons with skinnies and looks fabulous. Do you think it's because she's taller?

Queenie, the jacket was my number 1 shopping success story this summer!!! It's a Theory jacket that I had my eye on all last fall/winter at Bloomie's. I'd tried it on several times, but just couldn't bring myself to pay full retail price ($395!!!). When it went on sale (at a still fairly hefty price), it was sold out in my size (story of my life).

Then I was browsing in Filene's Basement (The Vault) in August, a place I never really find anything, and discovered this one - ONLY one - in my size, marked down for only $35!!!

It's called a "shrunken boyfriend" which I think is hysterical, but for someone my height it works. Ann Taylor has a pretty decent BF jacket out right now too.

Love it! Could be because I own the very same graphic tee! Did yours stretch out? Mine did quite horribly and I wished that I had gotten the smaller size.

I am so not a converse fan, I think what bothers me is that bright white toe cap - I saw plenty of cute fashion sneakers in Europe that appealed to me and I realized that it was the white part on the cons that turned me off. Anyway, maybe the converse experts might have better (unbiased) advice for you. I seem to recall Angie saying that we should leave the converse with skinny jeans to the younger gals though. I think it looks more polished with the ballet flats personally.

Hope you feel better soon. We just had the flu go through our house and it sucked!

Shana, mine didn't stretch out too horribly, but it also didn't shrink much, which I thought it would. I don't wear it that often because there is an applique that hits right at my belly bulge. From past experience with ATL, I figured it would shrink just enough that would hit at a better place. :-(

I am finding it harder and harder to want to buy and wear knits. I seem to be gravitating more and more to wovens (silky ones!). Yes, they are harder to launder, but they hold up so much better over the long run.

Killer outfit, Shiny! I love your boyfriend jacket. You have inspired me to try this look, too. I need to buy a boyfriend jacket, though, and am afraid I won't be as hugely successful as you at scoring a stellar one for a stellar price. Maybe I will check out the AT one you mention.

I wear straight legs with my Cons but never skinnies. My goodness, your feet are so tiny that I can't imagine that they look very big, even in Cons!

Oh how awesome! Love it! I don't think the Converse look big, but they do give you a major aura of coolness. I actually like it a lot. Shiny gone punk! The flats bring the outfit back to MOTG arena. Both are fab!

I think it takes a bit to adjust to the Cons with skinnies look. DD wears them all of the time and I've gotten quite used to it (BTW, your feet look tiny to me.) I think it's a great casual look and I wouldn't change it a bit.

Shiny, you look great! I agree about the cons, though. Angie recommends wearing them with straight legs or bootcuts, and I think it balances off the length of the foot.
Cons with skinnies is a very young look to me... which is fine, but feels odd if you are surrounded by youngsters. I was on campus yesterday, and was so glad I had swapped my cons for ballet flats. This is actually the first time I felt like I needed to step it up.

I didn't wear them out the door, no worries! I went with the ballet flats. I put them on just for the photo op. :-)

I will have to try the same formula with straight legs.

That's a great look, Shiny. I like both pairs of shoes for different occasions.

Shiny, I don't think they make your feet look huge. I think it's just all the contrast in the sneakers - the mixed light/dark colors - that draws your eye to your feet and is different from what you're used to.

I like them on you. In fact, I prefer the outfit with the sneakers because I think it's more funky. I guess I'm in the minority, though.

Shiny! No Cons with skinnies unless you're a teenager. You'll look fab matching this look with boot cuts though. Love the second option. Fabulous :0)

Shiny I just got home froma weekend away...think you have already left for HK but thought I'd throw my $0.02 into this thread anyway. I don't mind the look on you at all, but as you have said, its something I do myself. And I am am certainly not a teenager either!!! Your feet are teeny tiny, there is no way they could look huge!!!
