Inspired by GoldenPig - DVF Dress

Ok, so the recent post by goldenpig in her fabulous DVF dress brought the brand back to my mind.

I am currently enamored with this dress. I do have a couple black dresses, one sheath for work and one that is super sexy, bondage style. I feel this one will fit the bill for the classic black dress that could be worn to all occasions.

Ladies, has anyone seen it IRL?

Any comments from the DVF connosieurs ( cough.. cough DressLover?)

PS I'm keeping the DVF dress! Just found out Neiman Marcus is having a 30% off sale so I ordered another and I'm returning the full-price one! Yay!!!!

I have not seen this dress in person, but I can speak to the fabric. Polyamide is just a fancy name for nylon. Elastane is spandex. So the material is exclusively nylon and spandex - a whole lot of spandex. I suspect the material will feel like a pair of yoga pants. Pro - it will breathe well. Con - it will cling to everything. So that may or may not be what you are looking for.

For me, even though it is black, it doesn't read investment piece; however, I think it would be worthwhile tracking down on sale if you truly are enamored by it.

For DVF prices, I vote for sticking with her 100% silk jersey. It is so durable.

Zapotee, I am also a stickler about fabric and that much nylon and elastic is not a good thing.

I'm with DL on this one. Also, that ruching around/under the bustline could be potentially problematic depending on how busty you are. After ordering (and returning) three DVF dresses I bought during the friends and family sale, I realize that because of her variation in sizing and fabrication, I really can only buy dresses of hers that I try on or have tried on in the past and kknow how they look on me. Just too much guess work, otherwise.

Sexy bondage dress made my day!

DressLover, Alicat & Auburn, thanks so much for educating us all about dress fabrics. I had never paid much attention to that, mainly just how the dress looks. It's hard when shopping online to tell what the fabric is going to look and feel like. But even though I didn't listen to you and am keeping the DVF dress (at least I'm getting it on sale!) I will be paying closer attention to the fabrics listed from now on. Thank you!
