I'm back.....with a whole lotta sweater!

I'm back after not being around much so far this year. It was part computer problems and part my attempt to put some limits on my online time. BUT, my computer is up to speed now and I needs me some YLF time! So, here I am....

...with a whole lotta sweater! What do you think? I'm slightly obsessed with asymmetrical cuts as a way to add some arty edge to my minimal elegant style. This cardigan is from Splendid and it's...um....kinda big! The collar is much bigger and more unwieldy that I expected. When I first unpacked it I wanted to send it right back, but the more I fiddled with it the more it seemed to fall into place. It has a tiny bit of itch factor that worries me.....but I'm also thinking it's kinda cool. And I want to inject some more interesting pieces into my rather low-key wardrobe.

Most of these photos make it look much more orangey red and bright than it is in real llfe. Only #1 captures the actual color. Opinions?

#1- unbuttoned with straight leg denim (most accurate color depiction)
#2 - unbuttoned with denim (again)
#3 - buttoned with denim
#4 - unbuttoned with midi skirt/booties
#5 - buttoned with midi/booties

Thanks for the votes of confidence, everyone. So interesting that many/most of you prefer it unbuttoned....I had thought everyone would go for it buttoned.

Cinnamon, I like your suggestion of unbuttoned for the jeans and buttoned for the skirt. I can see how those combos work best.

missvee, I plan to do some playing around in my closet at the end of this week. I'll try the black boots/tights/skirt look then.

It IS a lotta sweater. I do love the colors and the texture. Do you feel overwhelmed by the volume or does it fit as a kind of statement?
I was lusting after this Nic and Zoe sweater from Nordstom and your interest in asymmetrical fastenings brought it to mind.

I love the colors and like it best in #1. It is a bit overwhelming on lovely diminutive you, but for cold days it's a nice "I'm at the ski lodge hanging out" look. I do not care for it with the skirt, maybe with some taller boots though to ballance the bigger sweater?

ETA: save it for next week when we'll be back in winter (not like today??? 70???)

Nancy: What warm, lovely colors! I agree that it's a lot of sweater, but I think the fact that the sleeves fit well, and you have plenty of height, makes it work for you. This sweater can work as outerwear, too. I layered a grey sweater like this over a t and v-neck pullover, wearing it instead of a coat in 45 degree weather.

This sweater seems like the perfect combo of your arty/ edgy side with your boho side. It's a bit of both! Love the warm colours and its ease. It IS a lot of sweater, but worn with the jeans it works easily. With the skirt, I agree it might look better with tights or tall boots vs. booties.

I LOVE this! In fact, I've been spying around for something similar in shape for me after seeing so many people wear this look at Sundance. It's not a waterfall cardi, or even really a cardi - more of a shawl/poncho with arms, and you look super-fantastic in it. How tall are you? You look so tall in this outfit!

Una, I'm just shy of 5' 5"...so I'm pretty average. I have long legs, which makes me look taller. And a flattering mirror! So great to hear I'm in style with the Sundance set.

I like it a lot, the colors are really good on you! It looks fab both open and closed, you get very different architecture depending on which way it is. Could be fun with faded denim and booties for a more boho look, too.
