If it comes back, it's yours...?

Waaaay back in 2011, Angie said that these boots were bossing me around, and I returned them. Here is the original thread, with style pics:

But today they found me again at a seriously laughably low price. My style has changed dramatically now that my UWP/Steampunk side has been given free reign outside of an office environment - can I pull them off now? DH miraculously likes them, they are a great comfy heel height for work (my other spat boots are TOO high), and I still kinda love them. I know they aren't strictly flattering and are kinda weird, but that is the allure!

What do you think? Can the older and wiser Rae boss these boots around at a drastically reduced price? Very quickly styled with some current faves.

Funny, I've worn my pair some but not as much as I expected, and they are in the purge-atory box right now. They were not as versatile for me as I expected because the snaps do not stay shut. Also the shaft felt too voluminous. They look great on you but I just thought I'd give my input from the other side.

I love them but I bought and returned them because they were so uncomfortable/difficult for me to wear -- like Una said, the lack of a secure way to close them at the ankle made my foot shift and slide around too much.

But if this is not an issue for you and they open up lots of outfit possibilities, I say go for it.

I missed these the first time around (your style has changed a lot since then!) but I don't think they do you any favors. The fact that they pop open would really annoy me.

This is hard! I can see why you like them, and you style them so well. On the other hand, the reports from Una and Janet doesn't sound too promising, and maybe you are better off looking forward in this case? After all, this is a blast from the past. Boots will be abundant in stores in the foreseeing future for sure, so a new pair to desire is bound to cross your path sooner or later. It would feel more fresh, don't you think?

Hmm. Tricky situation. I like them on you. And the price is right. But comments from Una and Janet give me pause. If they don't bear up in the actual wearing, you won't enjoy them. And could save those dollars for a better pair, given you don't actually *need* any boots at the moment....but will need summer-wearable shoes soon.

I would need to see a better side view that isn't dark. They always looked great from the front! That wide silhouette from the side is what overwhelmed you - and Una has the big hair to balance it out. That said, you are wearing much wider pants now, and that marriage could be a happy and proportional one

These seem to be very "you" and I always use that as a key assessment in choosing pieces for my wardrobe. Really loving the "layers" of boot involved, very cool!
