Thank you so much for the words of wisdom! After discovering these pieces at The Limited's website, I spent some time reassessing where I'm at.
I first checked on the new Clarks shoes I had found a couple days ago: http://www.zappos.com/product/7745456/color/200 Zappos was down to 1 shoe in size 6 and 3 in size 6.5, and I just couldn't let them go, so I purchased them. If they fit right and are comfy (which I'm assuming they will be since Clarks work well for me - the entirety of my sandals and heels are Clarks!), they will be a workhorse for conferences and other more formal events, and I will be presenting at 3 conferences between now and the next school year. Within the past week I've come to terms with letting go of two pairs of shoes that just weren't comfortable (black pumps and brown flats, not Clarks), and so hopefully this one new pair will fill the whole left by the other two. Of course, if they aren't 10s and comfortable after a very thorough walking test, back they go.
Next Iwent back and re-assessed my amazon.com wishlist. I was trying to figure out why these items at the limited made me so seriously reconsider SYC, but the other 60+ items on my wishlist didn't. Many of the items on my wishlist were very close to being perfect, but not quite there. The color could be better, the tummy was more loose than fitted, the design wasn't entirely my taste, or it just wasn't that versatile. All of these items were removed from the list.
I now have 20 items on the wishlist, and 4 of them are from The Limited's earth tones collection. Most of them probably won't be perfect once I try them on, but at least on paper they all have the potential to be 10s.
Thanks again for all of the thoughtful comments, and I'll keep you posted!
