Awhile back I posted asking you all for ideas for work. I did apply in my school district as a substitute teacher, and now I am in!

I haven't been on a payroll since 1994, when I had my first child. The district just raised the pay to $130 a day, which is now on par with other local districts.I hope to sub two or three days a week. This will be a nice extra income for us as soon we will have two kids in an expensive college at once.

With older kids who need me less, I felt like I needed somewhere to "be" during the school days and something to "report to" otherwise I would just be staring at the walls at home.

Did any of you go back to work after your kids were grown? What was it like to reenter the workforce for you?

I was surprised this school district has no dress code! I don't think I would ever dress sloppy or casual for a workday in a classroom, but this means that on days I just want comfort, I can wear the EF skirted leggings with some nice boots and a shirt under a sweater.

I don't think I need to go shop for work clothes, there are plenty of things I don't wear often that will now get a good workout, like pencil skirts and conservative pumps. Since denim is not forbidden, I can wear my denim blazer and nice dark jeans If I want.

Any teachers out there have tips for a sub?
