Hunting for half-sleeve tees and tops

Angie's post about sleeve lengths got me thinking about this again. I really need some half-sleeve tops and layering tees for fall, and I know I'm not the only one. I bought some at JCrew in the late spring but they were a total fail and are now at the consignment store.

Someone on the blog post mentioned Down East Basics and if I don't have any success in local brick-and-mortar stores I may order a few of this style:

I need the higher neckline at the moment because my baby will yank down anything lower and show the world my bra!

I may consider the V-neck version but I'd probably have to layer under it to avoid the bra reveal issue:

Those look nice Brianna! I haven't found any other half-sleeve tops. I was planning on buying some tops with long sleeves and just having the sleeves hemmed to elbow length.

Could you layer a half sleeved top over a cami if the neck is too low?

I know what you mean Brianna, and I agreed wholeheartedly with everything Angie wrote in that post. I get SO frustrated about this! It seems as if I'm always looking for elbow length sleeved tops and dresses, and they're never around (or only a few each season, and then usually in colours or cuts I don't like, and usually just very plain, while I like all sorts of funky details). I'm actually considering doing what Ana's planning to do. Okay, rant over. These are a few I have bookmarked during the last few months.

(by the way, especially for colder seasons, I would not ignore deeper V-necks and scoopnecks per se, I'd just go for something like this and wear a tissue weight turtleneck top (long-sleeved) underneath... What do you think?

By the way, the tops you and Cathy linked to are fab too. I was just wondering why the J.Crew ones didn't work out for you? (good to know, so we can avoid similar issues in the future).

Wow, you guys found some great options! I hope you can all stock up! The only one that's possibly available to me in Canada and is in my size and price range are the Old Navy ones. I'll try to find time to go look for them, because they're a lot less expensive than the Down East Basics ones.

The JCrew tees stretched out quickly, but even more importantly, the sleeves flared out a bit at the elbows, which was very unflattering and kind of odd-looking.

Briana, I've managed to find some half-sleeved tops this summer in various places. If you have Lucky brand, I've loved a top I got at their store. Here is a similar one: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....0&P=1

See what Sweet Pea has too. I have two with half sleeves that I got last year. With Angie's instructions I cut the long sleeves shorter on another Sweet Pea top. The nylon doesn't fray or need hemming.
Both brands can be pricey, but they can be found on sale

I actually bought one from Sears today- it has the elbow sleeves (fitted) and a U neck with some ruching. It's the Canyon River Blues brand and it was $9.99. They had it in several colors.
