How to tone down work-appropriate clothes for casual wear?

I am a college student who is going to go into workforce soon. So, I have been investing in work appropriate clothes for a while. I would like to use those clothes for casual wear also. I have a basic black skirt, a black sheath dress and several pants. How should I accessorize them so that I don't look like I'm heading to my office?

Sheer hose tend to be dressier, so you could wear opaque or even knit tights (if it's cool where you live). A lower heeled boot (like a riding boot) with the skirt and dress would take it down a notch. Depending on the fabric of the pants, wearing cotton blouses as opposed to silky ones.

Add denim into the mix. Pop a cropped fitted denim jacket over your sheath dress and add a pair of ballet flats. You could do the same with the skirt if you add a cotton rich shirt like Nicole suggests, the same denim jacket and the ballet flats. The pants are a little trickier cause it will depend on the fabric of the pants and the height of heel that you wear with them ( remember that you have to commit to a heel height when it comes to wearing pants and shoes).
