Hourglass/pears and jeans creasing on backs of thighs...

Starting a new post per suggestion - no matter how slim I get, I always sport some saddlebags. I got these jeans and loved how they look from the front but think they are a disaster from behind. In particular, I dislike the creases in the "underbutt" region and down the thigh. The size is good and overall fit is quite comfortable, but would you wear these?!

They have a nice fit, it's too bad that it creases like that in the back. Maybe you need jeans that are roomier in the back and thighs? It's hard to find a style that is right.

Quite simply, the jeans aren't cut to allow enough fabric through the thighs -- the pattern they are made from wasn't shaped to match how your body is shaped. You can experiment with sizing up or maybe look for jeans with a different cut. You may even need to size up to get a good fit on your thighs, and then get the jeans altered and taken in to fit at the waist.

They look very good from the front, but a bit too tight in the back. I would not wear them. I have the same issue with my white jeans, I bought them last summer and the tags are still on them I just don't feel comfortable in them.

What Liz said. These jeans just don't "get you". I just have to look for brands and styles that are cut correctly here and there for my shape. I do get a lot of waists altered, but first the pants have to mostly fit. Plus it's always more of an issue with a light-colored pant; can get away with minor "issues" in black pants and dark jeans.

I have the same issue, and it's complicated by the fact that I don't have much of a booty -- if I size up, often the fit becomes too baggy not only in the waist but also in the butt.

I think the solution is trying a size up, and if that doesn't work ( tailoring can help with the waist!), keep trying other cuts and brands. It's frustrating, I know!

My most recent successful jeans purchase has been Lucky Brand -- I think they cut with a little more room in the thigh.

Another thought though: If these are brand new, have you tried wearing them around the house before taking the tags off? Some of my jeans do this when I first put them on, but they quickly stretch out and ease up with a little wear.

So very helpful, everyone, thank you. Sometimes I forget to check out the backside, but I think with white pants, it is a must! I'll check out the Lucky Brands... if anyone knows of other pear-friendly, wider thigh cut jeans, I'd love suggestions.

Basia, you are after a curvy fit in jeans that is roomier on the thigh and smaller on the waist. These are cut too straight for your body type. The waistline will swim on you if you size up enough to get the leg fit right - and you can only alter the waist line so much.

Basia, have you tried the Loft curvy fit jeans? I got a pair of white ones in the curvy fit, and they've been great and not at all too thin and see through. I also always have the dreaded saddlebags, and the Loft curvy jeans are some of the best fit I've found.

Also consider a boyfriend style - since they are meant to be looser and not fitted in the waist, also maybe in a thicker/less stretchy denim, they can sometimes be easier to fit overall.

Well, I've rediscovered Loft Curvy fit after not buying much from that store for years. Much improved!!! I probably will still wear this with a high-low style shirt but creasing appears to be a non issue in this Curvy cut. Thank you for all of the suggestions!

I was surprised to discover that Old Navy's Sweetheart fit works well for me for jeans. I wish they'd make their Pixie pants (cropped, cute fabrics and prints) in the curvy Sweetheart fit. I wear a size smaller in these than all other pants, because they accommodate my curves.

Definitely looks better than the first pair. Glad you found ones that will work for you.

My go tos for curvy fit are Loft, AT online, ON sweetheart fit, Eddie Bauer curvy, and Lucky Brand Sofia, Lolita, and Sweet Jean.

Even more interesting - the original pair with the creasing was a size 29, and these Loft jeans are size 28. I know that AT and Loft (I think) does vanity sizing (?) but just goes to show how different sizes can be with different cuts, etc.

The curvy fit are 1000% better. Another great example of it's not you, it's the clothes. I'll have to check them out myself as I have a similar hourglass/pear shape. I'm also agreeing with Jules who recommended boyfriend jeans upthread.

I got rid of my jeans that fit that way. I just dislike the way they look. Surprisingly, my curvy figure seems to do better in trouser jeans and in some denim pants I bought from J Jill that are not cut like traditional jeans.

I am very curvy as well. When I was much slimmer I was still very curvy. I like the look of the curvy fit jeans. Great fit. I have tried on a lot of jeans before finding denim happiness.

I have similar issue then you. Besides the curvy fit, I think fabrics make a a huge difference too. I'm under the impression thinner jeans fabrics create creases more easily than thicker ones.

I also have the saddlebags/smaller waist build, and although I am 5"6", have found Banana Republic boyfriend jeans in a petite size have the best fit for me. I size up, but think the lower rise in the petite fit makes the waist sit a little lower so it fits better and the crotch doesn't sag. I only found this out after the jeans I wanted weren't in stock in my size, but found the petites on the clearance rack and gave them a chance...they're my favorites now. Go figure.
