Hi there, have noticed that Bristol UK always seems more cutting edge than where I am in Eastern England so just sharing what my daughter who is at uni in Bristol passed on to me tonight: "fashion is going a bit 70s and 80s in bristol. Light weight turtlenecks under dungaree dresses. Lots of denim - cropped jeans and denim jackets and everyone has either new balance or Nike trainers"
She says the cropped jeans tend to be baggy and the trainers can be any colour - her friend wears lime green ones every day.

Ha ha Diane G, I know exactly what you mean, I live in a small market town on the edge of the Fens (literally middle of bleedin' nowhere lol). After visiting Bristol in the winter I immediately ordered (hardly any shops locally) clumpy boots and a shapeless overcoat for that 'dont mess with me I'm well hard' look. May have taken it too far, a workman coming out of a gate said "after you mate"! X

Lol, it was an American Apparel coat, unisex. Expensive mistake but oh well charity will benefit. But keeping the boots, they are lush, Caprice through Amazon. Love Caprice footwear, cushioned and comfortable.

Asked DD if fashion in Bristol is divided into factions.......

" Weeell everyone seems to have their own style, it's just a generally edgy kind of style. Everyone just does it differently. The fashion section on bristol.tab.co.uk is quite a good representation."

p s. The Tab is the online student magazine, choose the i (info)button to choose the fashion section.

She goes on to say:
" I get the feeling that bristol fashion isn't really following nationwide trends. Apparently the rest of the country should be embracing flares, boho and florals."

Interesting how fashion can be a local thing.

It's always fun to hear what people are doing around the world. Here in my corner of country Australia we appear to be finding it hard to let go of skinny jeans and if anyone is wearing anything 1970s then it's probably because they found it still in the cupboard from back then and never stopped wearing it.

Thank you for your positive comments everyone. Dimity, that is why I am still wearing skinnies - at my age it might look like id stayed in flares all the way! Round here its still a chilly spring, and school mums are in dark skinnies, kneehigh or short boots, (not clumpy ones), padded gilets in black or navy with neutral jumpers under and a scarf, doubled and looped through. Country casual.
