Hi Friends, I need you!
I am going to the Santa Anita Derby on Saturday, it's the Breeder's Cup and I DON'T want to wear a frilly dress and hat. I want to do a menswear look, along the lines of "edwardian gentleman." We are going with three other couples, all the ladies will be in dresses and hats. We get to go up in a limo so we can indulge all day and not worry about getting home in one piece.
The feather shown is not the hat I will be wearing, I have ordered a mini top hat fascinator type gizmo that should be very unique and complement this outfit if I can pull it together (see below). But this feather clip should give you a good idea of how the outfit will look with a top piece. Don't forget I will have nice makeup and red lips. Today I look like crap.
Here are my options. I was going to wear the black satin Chanel jacket (detail below) with the black tipped fitted shirt, but then I remembered I had this black Anne Fontaine lace up vest and the "puffy shirt" from GAP. What I DONT like about the vest is that it is in a brocade fabric and I don't know how that goes with the windowpane pattern.. Do I care??
The BR windowpane pants and boots (closeup below) have to stay. The boots are suede and if you zoom you can see they have satin-beribboned grommets running up the back ooh la la!
I wish I had an antique walking stick to carry, maybe I can find one.
Which combo do you like best? Do you like the pearl drop earrings with this ensemble? I have a huge gold signet ring I will wear. Red lips, nails. Hair will be in a low bun, maybe a curly pinned bun, for riding of course.
Please excuse the sloppy styling. My husband gave me THREE minutes to make the costume changes, so I haven't properly tucked and adjusted everything!
Thank you Dahlings!
