Help ! Which coat ?

I am going to buy a coat for next winter. I don't have any cloth coats. What I do have is 3 black all-weather Land's End coats in various lengths. I would like something that I can wear in the country and in the cityand color :

Isabel- have we seen pics of you and your style? It's hard to make a recommendation not seeing you.
Also, what level of dressiness are you aiming for?

They are both very nice, but like queenie, I wonder what would flatter your shape, and each coat is different, one is casual and the other seems dressier, at least to me....would love to more about you and how you would use it...

The first one is more casual wheras the second one could be worn smart and casual so i think it depends on what you will be wearing the coat for x

I love the Laundry coat and as a small busted, long waisted pear I would be drawn to it too. I think it would be better on a medium to tall frame though with all that embellishment. I love colour and I could see why you would like the seond coat in plum but I thought it had the potential to be a bit blah and middle aged.

I like the first one a lot, but if you have three black coats you probably don't need another one. I like the simple cut of the second one and it would be beautiful in plum. But as several others said, it's hard to know without knowing your coloring, height, body shape, which colors are already in your wardrobe, clothes you'll be wearing underneath, etc.

Like both, but the first one with pockets on the chest and on the hips seems less flattering (unless you are very thin and don't mind the extra volume).

Thanks everyone...I don't know how to post pics yet. I will get on photobucket and see if I can figure it out. I want a smart casual coat for everyday that will pass when I go into Boston. ( I live in a town of almost 4000 people, it is very agricultural and rural - but many people here travel to the city for work. )

It sounds as if Melanie and I are very similar. I am almost 5'6, a size 2-4 and very small chested and pear shaped. I am also very long waisted. ( Rute, I weigh about 53Kgs and I am 1.6m tall so I don't worry about bulk too much)

Kristine - the Laundry coat is actually grey ( wew-hoo - color for me )

I think that I will send for both and by then I hope to be able to post a pic !!

I have black hair but very fair skin. My wardrobe, in the winter, basically consists of black, grey, brown, camel, navy. I am very classicly boring. I love flat front trousers and wear jackets or fine gauge sweaters alot. I wear boots, but mostly wedges so that they don't appear too dressy.
