Help Me Style This Pleated Midi Skirt For 2014

Yesterday I bought this pleated midi skirt from Zara:

I hope you are redirected to a site where you can see it. I bought the cream version. How can I style it with what I have to make it look like 2014? Dressing it up with heels and a tucked blouse is easy, but I'd like to challenge myself - and you, too!

It's a fab skirt, Ingunn. I had a quick look at your pinboard with items that you own, and I think you could definitely try the skirt with the striped Filippa K sweater (or your ink cashmere sweater. With the stunning floral Ted Baker tee too, of course. And how about adding the taupe suede booties for a tougher contrast?

Cropped cardigans or jackets, moto jackets, leather jackes, a fun denim jacket, welted pullover (with or without high-low hemline), front drape blouse, sassy sweatshirts will all work too. Pointy toe and almond toe, ankle strap or d'Orsay style footwear for a dressy look, perhaps even a sassy sneaker for a playful vibe?

Thanks Ingunn, that is a beautiful skirt and very you:) I think your Navy V Neck sweater would look amazing with the skirt. In fact much of your wardrobe would work nicely with it. I could definitely see this skirt with sneakers:) Or ankle booties. A very casual relaxed tshirt. Black tall boots! Endless possibilities.

Even before I read the responses or checked your owned items. My head said the floral printed tee that you bought recently! I think that's surely a 2014 look. A column of colour or monotone looks seem to be the trend this spring. I have seen loads and loads of two piece sets. And like Inge suggested with the taupe booties it would be stellar!

That's a lovely skirt and will suit your style!

Thank you, Inge, Deborah and Neel! I hadn't thought of wearing the striped Filippa K sweater with it, but that is definitely an option I will try. I think the stone suede booties are great with this skirt, and I'm also thinking of combining it with a slouchy tee and sneaks. My new Adidas sneakers and a gray t-shirt, perhaps?

Not reading other replies here . Your striped pullover ,the floral tee, the pale blue silky tee, navy blue pullover

Leopard print shirt, the lindex pullover. Any tanks and your blazers.

I'd actually just pull out all your shoes and line them up, and pull out all your tops and go wild. Also think about tying a sweater around your waist if you do a column of white or something just to see if it works. I'd also try it with anything oversized you have, like an oversized long coat. With moto or bomber jackets definitely.

I'd try variations on black/white and ink blue/white too. Even something where the skirt is the pop of brightness in an otherwise dark or black outfit including dark tights.

Thank you, Ramya and Rabbit! I'm definitely going to play around with this in the near future. The skirt is really fab - crisp, modern and retro at the same time. The fabric is quite structured, so it doesn't drape, but it moves nicely when I walk.

Rabbit, I loved the idea of dark tights. One of the reasons I bought it is that I've wanted an all-seasonal cream skirt, and I think this one can work for fall and winter, too.
