Help choose glasses frames? ETA: New Head shot, lotsa pics

I'm armed with an updated prescription, and have narrowed down my frame choices..... But I'm having troubles with the final decision. Would you mind weighing in?

I can get two pair - so feel free to vote for two. I'm thinking that one red and one not-red would be a good mix.

#1 and #2 are dark red, #1 a bit thicker, and #2 has plaid arms.

#3 is blue (but I wonder if it's a bit too angular for my face?)

#4 is my favorite shape, but these are black. They also come in very bright red, that I fear will accentuate the redness my face gets when I'm flushed (which is rather frequent).

And apologies for the non-clear lenses on #1-3. I wish they online pics were better....

And as always, feel free to tell me to go back to the drawing board too (but be prepared to offer concrete suggestions if you do )

1 and 2 appear too small for your face.
3 is probably the best of them all.
4 has the best width in comparison to your face.

Are you pressed for time? Could you search a bit longer?

I like 1 and 3 best, but it is hard due to not being "real" photos, if you know what I mean!

I am guessing this is an online ordering site. A thought occurred to me, can you go to an actual B&M shop and try on real ones (and maybe snap some pics) to help you narrow down the sizes and shapes?

Thanks Ornella for explaning why - I'll check with widths of 1 and 2 against a width of glasses that I have. I may need to filter for wider frames...

Okay - checking done. My current glasses are attached below (first the 'frame fit' from the website, and then in action). I like the way they fit, but the nose is too narrow, and they pinch - so I'm not going to get the same frames. How is the width on them (they are indeed wider than all four of these - so I'm going to do a filter for wider frames)

I think they look a little small for your face. How about a slightly larger frame but with a similar shape to #1 and #4.

I have a good idea of my parameters already from trying on ones from this company: I require them light-weight (up to about 20-23 grams), oval frames, and generally prefer the partial frame (just on the top). I can't handle them lenses too deep, or my cheeks bump them when I smile. I require the silicon nose pads, because they are adjustable and my nose is very wide where the glasses connect.

Here's another one that's wider than my current blue ones, but I'm worried that they might be a little tall for my smiling.

I am no help, but wanted to say - I think you're on the right track with choosing frames that are bottomless. I like #4 of your original pics. It's so hard not to see them IRL, and I think also if you could position them just a touch lower on your face they'd look more realistic. This last pair, I think might be too deep for your face, though...

Red and black that are the same width of my current blue ones. Both are a little on the heavy side, but might be do-able with the adjustable nose, I think.

Thanks Jenava - I think you're right - I'll try positioning my face a little higher so the glasses sit lower.

Yeah, I noticed in the virtual pics the glasses weren't sitting in the correct position. This could help things out too.

I like the very last pair the best. How are you doing this? I agree it's hard to judge the photos this way, but it's a cool idea.

Una, their site provides it - but the interface is buggy and hard to use. I'm trying to get a new head shot to use, but it keeps placing my head off-center. I think they coded in a new bug today or something

I like both of those you just posted! The red is flattering on you - the black is more versatile. I wonder what a gold-tone frame would do for you? Something like that last one, but gold rather than black?

What I like about the latest ones compared to the first set is where the outer bottom curve hits your cheek bone. The first ones had more skin between ear and frame, less between frame and eye. The latest ones are more balanced to my eye. The biggest ones, on the other hand, seem overwhelming. I think you are zeroing in onto something that will work well.

Jenava - I'm not opposed to trying gold-toned frames, but a little scared of it. Yellow is my absolutely worst color

You have gorgeous eyes! And to my eye, the dark frames look good on you - I like the contrast between the frame colour and your hair and skin tone. I liked #4 in the first set, and I like the last 2 you posted.

what I prefer in the last set, is that the frame seems to follow your brow line better. Your eyebrows are almost hidden in the first set of pics...which might be a computer 'fitting' issue.

I actually like #1 in your first set best, if you can get them the right width for your face. I like that they have just a little more depth to them, which looks more current to me than the shallower frames. I like the shape of them with your brow line, and the rich deep red color looks like a good one, though that is really hard to tell, since it's kind of a photo-of-a-photo we're looking at, with this technology, right?

Karie - it's Zenni Optical. (zennioptical.com). They have the biggest selection and the most information about the frames of all the online sites that I've tried. I've gotten four pairs there so far, and been satisfied with their quality and service.

I was just thinking that you have such lovely warm brown eyes that a pale gold tone might set them off while still being neutral. (-: Just a crazy idea.

Thanks Caro and Jenava - Maybe a really pale gold would work - I'll pull some up and see what I think. But it'll probably be a day or two. I'm having troubles with their site accepting new photos right now, so I still haven't successfully adjusted the placement of my head in the frame (so that the glasses sit lower)

I also liked the 4th pair from the original photos and the last two pairs. I have a slight preference for the red. I like hoe the red makes your face light up and it picks up your lip color and makes your eyes sparkle. I also think it made your cheeks look rosy. It's like putting on makeup! Maybe a pair in rose gold would do the same? I look forward to seeing more pics.

I also like how the last two pairs echo your brow line but don't cover it completely.

Okay - I finally got their website to work with a new head shot. It seems they changed the algorithm for displaying the frames too - a lot more of the arm shows.

Instead of posting all the photos this far down, I just posted a whole bunch up top. Hope you don't mind! And I so very very much appreciate your help!

Of those posted, I like 6 and 8 best. They show at least some of your eyebrows. You have that rare perfectly oval face and lovely eyes.

A lot better selection Amy Bigger frames make a huge difference to me. May I ask, are you definitely settled for the bottomless frames, because I see a lot of full ones too?
