'Happy Moments' Sept 15th - YouLookFab Forum

I'm a bit late with this post.. oops! Better late than never eh?

So as you know by now, on this regular thread, we share good news, happy times, gratitudes etc. in order to get us all thinking more positively. I hope you'll join in

Ok, me first as usual...

So over this last week, my son went back to school and I'm pleased to say that he's settling in nicely and doing well so far...plus...I get my days to myself again, yay

I've been pondering over a few changes to our interior and enjoying looking for ideas and planning.

I'm having tons of fun on the forum with the challenge that I thought up last week. I'm loving seeing everyone's contributions and I loved trying on lots of my own clothes for it and feeling inspired.

This last one's for Angie :)...Duran Duran were on a lunchtime programme today! It was great seeing Simon Le Bon and John Taylor being interviewed and hearing a couple of snippets of a new song. Can't wait to see them live in December!!!!

Diana-- I'm thankful for your awesome challenge and all the happy posts it has brought to the forum.

I'm still extremely excited about my upcoming move. I'm hoping for good news this week on a couple fronts which will let me move forward with my plans. Plus, we are making headway on packing.

I have company at the end of the week, which I'm very much looking forward to.

I actually bought presents with my birthday cash, which should arrive soon.

I'm enjoying good food in the form of leftovers this week (delicious hamburgers and stir fry) and enjoying the summer clothes I've purchased at end of the season sales (I finally have 7 days worth of decent clothes-- so much worn out stuff to pitch!).

Amongst the craziness of moving I have two girls' nights and a short day trip (or two) to look forward to.

Diane, thank you so much for thinking of this super fun challenge!! I had some very happy moments last night picking out my challenge outfits for the whole week!

Elly, I am thrilled for you with all your exciting changes!

My happy moments also included the last concert of the summer at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a great time and Gentleman Friend and I agreed that we have pretty much perfected the art of the Bowl picnic!

And I am happy today because it's my son's 29th birthday and I am going to San Diego to spend the weekend with him on Friday! Woo-hoo! (Here we are being goofy last summer!)

I am so happy that fall is approaching. It is by far my most favorite season. I am tempted to make a huge leaf pile and jump right in when the leaves all fall.

Another happy moment! My IL's house sold and closing is on the 30th. Keeping fingers crossed all goes well. Inspection done and items on list taken care of. Even though my DH never lived in that house I know it will be tough on him. We spent the last 25 Christmases there. I have to make this Christmas special for all of us.

On an not so happy moment, DH is having surgery on his shoulder (this makes #3) to remove a calcium deposit next month. On the plus side I will have him at home with me for a while during his recuperation. Have not seen him too much while he has been taking care of his father's affairs, etc.

Summer

Good to know that DS has settled back at school, Diane. I remember that delicious feeling of freedom at getting my house back after the long summer holidays. Not that it wasn't lovely having the children around - mine and countless others! - but it was just so much easier when I could follow my own agenda.

I'm really enjoying watching your challenge unfold on the forum. I'm always amazed at how creative everyone is with their interpretations. So, even if I don't comment, you are all doing a great job.

My happy moments have been simple over the past week or so:
Soaking up the last drop of sunshine in the garden, sipping tea and watching the birds.
Sharing a table in a busy restaurant with two delightful strangers who seemed more like old friends.
Getting back on an even keel after a few stressful days.

I am enjoying the Fall weather. My favourite season. I am also enjoying your challenge Diane. Thank you for starting it. So much fun.

DH has his friends from school that he has known for 55 years visiting. So much fun. Nice dinners and walks. Some of the guys have not seen each other for 40 years and it is like yesterday. It is a very nice reunion.

It must be a bittersweet moment for you and your DH Lara. Selling the house is a blessing, but the memories that go with it are difficult to let go, so I like your resolve to create many lovely new ones for Christmas. All the best to your DH when he goes through surgery..I wish him a speedy recovery. Oh, and enjoy your leaf jumping!!!

Thanks Summer...yes, you're right..it is nice to have the kids around during the holidays, but so good to follow my own agenda now! We have had a few reasonable Autumn days lately and I'm glad you made the most of them. It's good to know you're through a stressful patch too.

My niece was born last week - 18 days early, but otherwise healthy. She was losing weight the first couple days, but now she's home and gaining well - 12 oz since she's been out of the hospital. Sad I'm so far away but I'm glad they're doing well and that my parents got to go down and see her last weekend.

Late to post, but no less grateful! 1. YLF meet-up on Saturday with Suz, Merwoman, Michelle, and special appearance by Alaskagirl (Una). 2. DS #1 attended a job fair in the Big City on Friday, and got an interview from one company already! Has a follow up interview next week. Reworked his resume and the response has boosted his self confidence. 3. The endless summer continues. Nights are cool now, but the days are warm and sunny. Sleeveless tanks and sandals still in rotation.

*I would also like to thank Diane for setting the inspirational challenge for this week. I could do a whole week of outfit combinations inspired by one picture! Isn't nature just the best colour mix-master?

Enjoyed a tears-running-down -my-face laugh with my BF today.

Enjoyed a heavier workload at work after a slow summer.

Congratulations to the happy parents (and Aunt of course :)) Laura! I'm glad the wee treasure is thriving.

Oh, big fun meeting other Fabbers eh Carla? I'm glad you had a wonderful time in Toronto. Congrats to your son too. Kudos to him! Enjoy the rest of your lovely Summer..

I just got back from a wonderful trip planned around the baptism of our grandson. It was a joy to see that dear baby and his parents again. DS and DDIL are looking for a larger house and may rent to us their small present house. That is scary to think of moving but exciting to.
Also wonderful news that our other son is coming soon from Japan to visit.

They sound like lovely family times Joy. I'm so pleased for you, hearing that your son's going to visit from Japan too...great news!
