Diane, lovely shots!
Angie, I am so excited for you! I just wish I could be there for all the celebration and gathering, but I will be with you all in spirit! Hug everyone for me.
Mary, what a milestone! I'm breathing a happy sigh for you. It's been a long time coming.
Doubleh, that's so nice to have your family living closer! I keep trying to get my sister to move back up to where I live (where we grew up), but we do what we can to get together. I'm *hoping* she will be able to visit for some big happenings in October (more on that later).
Ornella, that is a great shot of you with your niece, and hooray for your dad and for your son! All wonderful things to celebrate.
Alasse, I'm with you on the weather! High five!
A, how great to have visits from your daughter and friend. Treasure that time!
Carla, isn't downtime wonderful? You deserve it!
Astrid, it's wonderful to spend time with the young ones in our lives -- and to welcome the newest one! I see the resemblance to your Oma also.

My happy moments:
- Completing an 80 mile bike ride on Sunday. The weather was beautiful too, just perfect for riding. I'm really kind of amazed that I'm not sore after these long rides, and I'm excited to do the Century ride the weekend after next. More than a little surprised at myself for tackling this and conquering it. So yes, I'd say I'm "chuffed"!
- So this will be boring to people who are not into sports, but I am SO FREAKING EXCITED that my beloved Baltimore Orioles are going to the playoffs this year. I went to the game the other night in which we clinched the American League east championship, and it was incredible. I got a seat close to the field so I could be right near the action if we won the game -- which we did!
After the game ended, the players flooded the field with their families and the managers, grounds crew, etc. were all out there celebrating. I got beer sprayed on me by two of the players, and a fan right in front of me got pied in the face (our player Adam Jones is notorious for his pie-ing of teammates who play a special role in winning a game, and he took the special treatment to a few fans this time!). In fact, you can see me in this video -- I'm on the right, most visible right after the second pie-ing (the man in the orange 21 shirt):

The last time we clinched a playoff position at a home game was 1969, so this was a big celebration. Both of my parents were big fans, so I kinda feel like they're both smiling down on the celebration this year. Now, hopefully...on to the World Series! (pics are 1 Oriole mascot carrying the championship flag, 2 relieving pitcher Andrew Miller with his son, and 3 catcher Caleb Joseph celebrating)
- Yesterday I spent the late afternoon in a field of sunflowers. I've got to say, there are few happier places in the world than a field full of sunflowers. It was a gorgeous day, and I savored it. The pics below are just iPhone shots -- I took better ones with my "big girl" camera.
As always, I am thankful for every day!
