Hi Everyone!

I'm realizing I seriously need to invest in some handbags, and I have a few in mind (not to buy all at the same time, of course). I was wondering what you all thought of this bag--cute or cheesy?

I like it--the color is perfect for my wardrobe and all the warm weather down here. I'd be able to carry it for the majority of the year. But my handbag judgment is not always the best, hee hee. If it's not a good choice, I won't be offended. They are so expensive, I hate to save up and buy something that isn't going to work.

I like it, and am partial as I have an orang-ish handbag that I love and works with just about everything I have -- red is an exception for sure. Make sure it is not too spring-y so you can get lots of wear out of it. The studs give it a youthful touch but not too trendy.

Love the color, and it's perfectly Ana Also like the shape a lot. I'm not 100% sure about the studs. I like them now (and they are very much en vogue this season) but I wonder whether you will still like them a year or so from now, especially for an every-day kind of handbag. I personally would buy this as a trendy item for half the price but not at this price for an investment piece. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the responses so far, ladies. The studs were what I was wondering about, whether they are trendy or not. I know some studded bags are kind of timeless, but it depends on the placement of the studs. In this case, since they follow the zebra pattern (or whatever that is) I wasn't sure what to think of them.

However, you wear a lot of coral, Ana. I wouldn’t suggest wearing this handbag with a coral top or skirt. I personally think this bag will look better when it’s the only coral component of an outfit. I’m a little matchy-matchy sensitive (more than others). Does that make sense?

But you wear outfits sans coral, so you should be sorted.

That make sense, Angie, thank you. I think we're on the same page. I guess when I said it would go with my wardrobe, I meant I do wear a lot of coral, so I have a lot of clothing that goes with coral (that is not coral)--like black, olive, white, cream, citron, etc. I wasn't actually planning on wearing it with anything else that is coral at the same time. I probably should have clarified that. I'm sort of thinking ahead to next spring and summer (which will be here very soon for us). I want to wear a lot of dresses, and I've found a lot that I like, but most of them are black and white, or in some other neutral, so I decided I needed some colorful handbags and shoes to go with them for warm weather times.

Ana, I like the shape and the color of the bag, but I'm not in love with the studs. I'm wondering if it will date the handbag. I don't know...I'm not impartial because I'm not really a hardware kind of girl. Sorry, don't think I helped at all

If this is the only bag you want to get right now then I was thinking the exact same thing that Angie said. You may want to think about a color that goes with all your reds and corals that you wear. I like the style of the bag a lot, but I think you would be better off with a color that goes with everything in your closet and one that has no studs (more classic that way) since you will be shelling out some money on it, you know? I do love the shape of this one though!

Hmm, the studs are not overly done, and there are no studs on the other side. And it only has that one fringy piece which looks removable.

Hard to say! If it were me, and I was looking for a bag in orange, I'd probably go for it. I don't care for particularly overstudded, overly fringed bags, but this one isn't overly done - it's got the "just right" amount of goo-gahs. I love "just right" amount of goo-gah bags.

Whether it will be timeless or date too soon - I have no clue. But I'm guessing the leather is sumptious...

Will you be depressed if by spring the trend has turned towards more minimalist bags? I do have this feeling lately that that is where we're headed.... if not next year, the year after. If you look at the "Most Wanted" bags shown on the right hand side, they are all more minimalist.

Not sure I'm happy about that - I don't mind minimalist, it's nice too (depends on my mood!)... but it, too, can be overdone - except in the opposite direction: to the point of boring.

I think it looks cute and the leather does look very luxurious!

As for the studs - I personally like them. But I may be biased because I've had a black leather bag with studs for about 6 years now and am still loving it!! Having said that I have no idea what the current or future trends in bags are sorry!!

I've been thinking about what you all have said, and I might invest in something that's a little more neutral. I found this bag, and I think I might get it first, and then branch out into more colorful bags. I think I could wear this one right away:

I think the little clasp detail is cute and kind of retro, but the cracked leather and clean lines keep it modern?

I am going to be investing in more accessories and filling holes in my wardrobe over the winter. The areas where I seriously lack any variety: jeans, shoes and handbags. It's probably because those are my least favorite things to shop for. But now is a good time because I don't really need to buy a lot of winter clothing, so my budget is freed up for these things at the moment. I'm so impressed by how a lot of you really take an outfit up a notch by the shoes and bags and accessories you pair with it, so I'm keeping that in mind while I try to be good and not buy more blouses and sweaters, lol. Please keep posting outfits, it's really inspiring (thank you)!

I think if you're going to buy a high end bag (and to me $300 is high end)--then you should absolutely positively LOVE the bag and have no doubts about it at all. It does not sound like you're positive about loving this bag.

Edit: I must have been typing when you were posting. My comment above was specifically about the first bag you posted in the OP. But my comment stands for any bag.

Thanks, Nicole! That is great advice. I think my issue is that I have almost zero confidence picking out a handbag, so it's hard for me to really fall in love with a bag, because I'm worried that the bag might turn out to be kind of lame or age-inappropriate, etc. I'm trying to spend more time looking at bags, like I do blouses and dresses, to figure out what I like and what I don't. There are a couple bags I absolutely LOVE, but they are well out of my price range. The second ivory bag I posted, I really really like, and I am actually excited about buying that one. There is another one I found that I really like as well, but it's citrus colored, so I am going to buy the ivory one first because I can wear that right now.

Ana, I like that second bag! Everything about it will go with your wardrobe, and this bag has you written all over it. I like the retro quirkiness of it, it makes it cute and unique! If you love the bag....go for it! There are no guidelines for picking bags except for loving it and finding it in the perfect color (which this neutral is great because it will go with everything). ;--)

I just wanted to add that I absolutely LOVE the ivory bag and that it has your name all over it. I think it's a very wise choice to make your first investment bag a neutral one. And it will go with pretty much everything in your closet!

I posted this on another thread, but I just wanted to say thanks for the feedback on the cream bag Muequita and Tanya. I just get worried that I pick bags that are super conservative and boring and/or date very quickly, you know? I would feel totally confident picking a blouse that cost that much money, but a bag is another story. I know just because something is expensive, doesn't make it good.

It says there's only one left, and I don't have enough money to pay for the bag until November 7th (payday), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's still there (this is always my luck with handbags). Thanks again for the link!
