Handbag help - keep, toss, signature style?

I just purged 6 bags, and these are the survivors...

2 evening bags - too dated? Hard to tell the scale here, but they are on the smaller side (but not too twee).

medium size yellow leather bag - a TJ Maxx find - I use it in the summer

Dooney & Bourke shoulder bag - 20 years old? Sentimental, but probably dated in color and style? Or is it a "classic" D&B style?

Buttery leather - another TJ Maxx score. I always get compliments on it when i go out - but I have no idea why I bought it - it's so not my style, is it? I haven't posted any casual pix - only Sunday and party wear.

Standard nylon fabric 9 West bag - 10 years old? I'm just bored with it, really, but it's usable.

So, there's my paltry collection.

What do you guys think? What's missing from my collection? What is my handbag style - what should it be? It's a bit schezophrenic, right now. I would like to invest in one or two nice bags - I'm not one to change every day or even every week or month. More like, once or twice a season, or for evening vs day.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Well done, MPJ! Pass on the Nine West bag and keep the rest.

The evening bags are okay, not terribly hip, but not dated either. Add a clutch when you say goodbye to those.

I vote an everyday RED handbag.

D7B bag- Lovely would it work as a cross body bag?

9 West- the kids at work have 2 similar in the dressing up box!!!! nuff said!!!

I would keep only the yellow bag and give away all the rest. The last two seems too old, the first one (evening bags) too dated.

Thanks, everyone for your feedback. The first cut was easy for me, but when it got down to just a handful of bags, I needed YLF approval.

Angie - If my winter boots are red, does a red handbag make it too matchy-matchy? Actually, I think I might remember an MOTG formula where you feathered red boots and red purse, so maybe I have my answer.

Maybe add something in a cool color, since you mostly have warm colors? Blue, green, teal, blue gray or a purple gray?

my vote is to keep the evening bags- like Angie said, they aren't terribly hip, but with the right outfit I see them working. I really like the red one with the little flowers.

yellow bag- keep

D&B- that one looks dated to me...

Buttery leather- I'm not crazy about this one either, but if you get compliments on it, it might be working for you.

9 west bag- toss.

lol- it's so much easier to toss other peoples stuff I have an old old old backpack purse that I keep just because it's great to have at Disneyland.

Okay, so I love your DB bag. I would wear it with a floral sundress, moto linen or leather jacket (in cream or khaki) and strappy sandals. Love!

I vote for color! Love the thought of a red--something deep and saturated to take full advantage of the texture of leather.

Also a vote for embellishment, in moderation--buckles, grommets, gathers. Adds visual interest, especially if your outfits are classic.

I vote to replace the 9 West bag with a new black bag -- it doesn't look like it belongs to the same woman as the rest of them. I like your bag style; it is classic, but not plain.
