Hair help please

Hi I'm new to this forum, hope I'm in the right place but I was hoping I could get some opinions on what to do with my hair if I post some pics (if I can even do that?) I have very low self confidence and hate to look at myself in the mirror so I can't decide for myself but my hair stylist thinks I should go shorter, I've always had long hair and recently went for a graduated bob so really unsure whether to grow long or cut more off??

These ladies helped me recently when I didn't know what to do to my new haircut. I liked it after the stylist got done with me, but was having trouble with "doing" it myself.

Post up some pics of your hair and some pics of what you're thinking about doing and I bet they can help you. They're a great bunch for helping solve problems without making me feel stupid because I'm not educated on current hair products

Ah I've read I need to be a member for 3 days to post pics so I've changed my profile picture to me with long hair until I can post more pictures of my now short hair and some styles that I'm thinking of, but in the meantime please do let me know if you think I would suit short hair or if it's better long. I've made an appointment for next Friday for the chop but obviously wouldn't want to regret it so might cancel if you guys say otherwise. I've been getting mixed opinions, my Husband thinks I should go shorter as does my stylist but my friends say NO don't do it, will very much appreciate help

I think something in between short and long would suit you, Hair between chin and shoulder looks good on most women. Also, tell us about your hair. Is it naturally straight, wavy, thick, thin? Colored? How much time can you spend on it and how skilled are you at styling? Note: you can post URL Iinks to images of styles you're considered.

Anytime I have gone shorter, I avoid the chop by doing it in stages over 2-3 appointments. That way I can better judge just how short I want to go and get used to working with it as I get length and weight taken off.

The main thing I notice, looking at your profile pic, is that your current style features more interest at both the top and the bottom, but not so much in the middle levels where your features are. My eye kind of followed the straight part of the style right past your face. So, shortening-up and bringing some of the detail (or bounce and movement) more adjacent to your face might be a flattering option.

So grateful for responses my hair is quite fine, has a slight natural wave, I do like low maintenance but do have time to spend on it and semi skilled at styling, I colour it and at the moment it's a mid brown but thinking about going a darker chocolate. I love the grunge style and wish I had the guts to do it and I would if someone said 'that would totally suit you' like dyeing my hair grey or rose gold lol I'll share some links of what I'm thinking of.

Yep, the types of styles you've linked to would suit your hair looking at your profile pic. I saw your longer hair from earlier today and like what you currently have. Maybe link to cindysmith's profile to have a look at her recent hair posts to get an idea of her styling. You do say you're not that self-confident but if you can do it and feel confident that will help that aspect of confidence grow! From today's experience of support from the forum for me there couldn't be a nicer bunch

You guys are so kind thank you, I'm going to do it!!! Would love the suggestions/opinions to keep coming but I'm pretty sure my minds made up, should I keep or grow out my bangs as per the pictures I shared?

I can totally see you in the first grunge girl asymmetrical bob! That would be sharp. As for colour, I shouldn't give advice - my hair is dyed green

Thank you 'rachylou' that was my favourite style too, I just hope I don't regret it, I hate my nose which I feel is large and bulbous and read to stay away from short styles but always felt my long flat hair accentuated it, also I'm 6 foot tall so again the net says to stay away from short styles unless embracing your height. I've had many colour mishaps too, always learn the hard way lol hope you got rid of the green ok

I like the styles you posted. They are very cute. I have fine hair and it can be wavy with some humidity in the air. My hair is medium thickness so it is not flat. You might want to ask your hair stylist how your hair will look with the layering in the pictures you posted. Your hair might lie flatter. That is not a bad thing but it would look different.

I like both of the pics you posted but you'd have to grow out your bangs for them so you wouldn't have that look right away. You might want to show your stylist some in-between pics also but always working toward the final look.

Hi guys so today is the day I get my hair chopped, I've narrowed it down to 4 hairstyles and wondered if I could ask for votes on the one you think would suit me most, the last two pics are me with long hair (1st one I have extensions in) with and without a fringe, just to compare if I'll suit growing fringe out if need be.
