Green sweater Take 2--does it go with this skirt?

It seems that most people liked the sweater yesterday, so I'm going to keep it. I may change the buttons to silver or tortoiseshell (I saw a Nannette Lepore jacket today that was green with tortoiseshell buttons).

Anyway, I had this skirt in mind when I bought the sweater yesterday. It's a Talbot's skirt I got at Winner's at the end of summer last year and haven't worn yet. The pink is brighter in real life. I took these picture last night with my cell phone, so the lighting wasn't great, also excuse my messy closet in the pictures.

Also, what do you think about the striped shirt with it, if you even like the sweater and skirt together? The stripes and my shoes I have on are both navy. Styling suggestions and other ideas for this skirt are welcome! TIA!

YES!!! I thin it looks great together. Nice with the navy shoes! Spectator type shoes would look very cute also.

Meredith: I like the idea of spectator shoes. I've seen a few in magazines, etc that I have liked. I will have to keep my eye out for some of those.

Thanks Angie, so the stripes are OK? BTW, the shoes and stripes are navy, but I'm guessing that doesn't matter?

I've never had gelato (I know, I should get out more...lol), so I think I will take my favorite, peppermint ice cream! I think that's appropriate, considering the skirt. haha

Is denim an option? You could do almost any wash denim, from light to vintage wash. White jeans would be very nice too.

Modgrl: You mean for the bottom? Yep, I will definitely wear the sweater with denim. I was trying to figure out what to wear with the skirt. I've had the skirt for a year and thought the sweater I picked up yesterday might work with it. You are right that white denim would be awesome with the sweater, I wish I had some, I will keep my eyes out for some!

Can you do the striped shirt with the skirt, but without the sweater? or a denim jacket on top instead of the green sweater? I don't know why it just seems like a lot going on with pink, green stripes and the tipping on the sweater...

OK, now I have gelato and white denim homework. All of this ice cream talk *is* making me hungry!

Rita, I do tend to like a bit of ALGO, it seems. I like the idea of a denim jacket. I'll have to see if the one I recently got will go with skirts, I haven't tried it. I also have a denim-ish shirt that I can try with the skirt, now that you mention it. I also really like the idea of faded denim bottoms with the sweater. Thanks for the ideas!!

Thanks Rae! I hadn't heard of that brand before. Their ads are really pretty! And, I do love those colors! It makes me want to go find a pretty blouse with those colors in it.

Espresso gelato is my favorite but banana or mango sound divine (even on this cold day!).

I think the outfit is Modern Preppy (green and pink always give me that vibe) so a spectator or bootie or edgier shoe would be my suggestion - anything non preppy.

Pink skirt - could you wear with a denim jacket and edge it up a little. Way too cute to be an orphan.

Changing buttons is killer idea - I have a jacket with gold buttons and I am a silver girl so now I have a project thanks to you

I really like this combo even though the shirt, skirt and sweater don't match. I think you are more advanced at this styling than I am! Rita's suggestions are good, but I like this too. Lots of possibilities for remixing. I recently bought a hot pink skirt at Goodwill, and I'll be wearing it with navy/white patterned tops and either a blue or my (new) white denim jacket. You could also follow Angies bright jeans formula, though it's not that bright.

Both of these items are great colors on you and I really like the ideas from modgrl and Angie to pair the green jacket with navy or white denim. That would work really well. The pink skirt and green jacket seem to be in friendly tones with each other, and from your photos, look to be good together. Gelato, frozen yogurt! It's all good.

I like this combo but it definitely reads a bit preppy to me with the green pink and navy... Prep is not something I avoid though and I like sweetness of this as well as the styling suggestions for both pieces with denim! I learn something new everytime I log on!

I'm so glad I'd just had a fix of icy dairy dessert with lots of melon, strawberries and kiwi before I got to this thread. You fab ladies are now tempting me to go back some lemon semi-freddo...mmm!
