I'm thinking about going gray. I started going gray at 16, and I've been coloring my dark brown hair since high school. I'm now 31. Judging by my roots, I think I'm about 30% gray now. I color at home b/c salon coloring is not in my budget and I never had the best results with that anyway. But my hair is getting increasingly more stubborn, and the color is starting to look weird.

I've been looking at this site: http://goinggraylookinggreat.com/ and I'm so inspired by the fabulous photos. I did find a 32 year old and a 34 year old pictured, but I'm still much younger than most of them. And I do not know any women my age who have gone all gray. I think gray hair can be fabulous, but it also can make you look old and drab if it's not done right. And then there's the transition period when I'll look like a skunk

Anyway, what I'm thinking about doing is coloring for a little while longer while I work on a couple other things.

First, is I wear glasses all the time. I am nearly blind without them and cannot wear contacts so that is not optional. Within the next few months I'll be looking for a really awesome pair of fun glasses (and I'm sure I'll be posting pics on here to help decide).

Second, I need to find a hairstylist I can really trust. We moved here 9 months ago, and I have not had much success yet, but I'll have to step up the efforts. A fabulous haircut is an absolute necessity to not look instantly old, especially during the transition.

Thirdly, I'll continue work on improving my style so it doesn't become boring clothes, boring hairstyle, boring glasses.

Then after 1 and 2 are accomplished (third will be in process the whole time), I think I'll go fairly short with the haircut.

I realize none of you have even seen a picture of me (hopefully soon, camera issues!) so you're sharing your opinions on an entirely philosophical level. But what do you think about the whole thing? Being gray in my early 30's, my plan for doing it, etc.

And sorry this is long! Thanks for reading
