I'm sorry I haven't been around much. After a killer (and not in the Angie good killer sense) kind of year, I have had a hard time jumping back in... But I thought this would be fun to share.

I love small home living. It is easy to care for a small place, and helps keep clutter and excess stuff pared down, but there are drawbacks. The three of us share one very small bathroom, and gettting ready in the morning means taking down one of several bins from the closet for each thing (one for makeup, a different one for hair dryer and products, etc.) and balancing said bin on the back of the toilet while standing in front of the only well lit mirror in the house. That is when I also hope and pray that the teenager doesn't suddenly need more than a quick bathroom break!

I have been wanting to update my (also small) bedroom lately, and somehow the whole thing ended up much girlier than I intended or have ever done before. Thankfully John likes it, so it's not over the top. The one thing I really wanted was a vanity area where I can sit down to do my hair and makeup, while not taking up bathroom space. The issue with this is that our king sized bed almost fills up the entire room, but I found a tiny vanity that is less than a foot deep, and allows me to walk between the bed and vanity with just enough room!

Aside from my delight in the vaniity, the best part of this new room is the artwork. We found these amazing prints from the 20's in my grandfather's things and he can't remember anything about them or why he even had them, but I fell in love with them! There are four prints, but they are so large that I could only use two in the bedroom. I hung the framed prints on the bamboo rug that we put on the wall behind the bed, and that is what set girly tone for the room. The rest just fell into place from there.

I can't wait to enjoy my new vanity area - I finished it yesterday so I haven't actually used it yet! I have visions in my head of sitting in my pretty robe, drinking coffee, and enjoying the hair and makeup process even more than I already do.... I just thought you all might be able to appreciate this!

(For reference, the first two photos are of the bathroom and bathroom closet where the magic used to happen!)
