Gap Denim Jacket - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Everyone!

I decided to start a new thread since I know several of you are looking for denim jackets, and this one has come up in several other conversations.

This is the only denim jacket that I could find at Gap. Hopefully Angie will be able to confirm if this is the one she was referring to in previous posts.

I could also use some opinions. I bought a Lucky denim jacket, but haven't taken the tags off, so I could still return it if this one is better.

I think if I decide to keep this one, I would have it taken in around the waist. Here is a photo of what it would possibly look like:

I think that the Gap jacket might fit you better right off the rack; but I actually like the Lucky jacket better. I like the darker wash and the stitching. If you are going to have to get either one altered, I'd keep the Lucky one.

I think the jacket looks great "as is". Am I correct in that the first couple of pictures you are wearing it naturally? If so, then it comes in at the waist appropriately for a denim jacket of this length (i.e. not cropped). Don't think you need to alter it. See 'ya soon...

Hi Ana, I agree with Aj: I think this jacket does fit you better, but I personally prefer the wash of the Lucky one.

Lauren, you're right--in the first pictures I am wearing it "as is." See me soon? Are you coming to visit? Hee hee.

Happy life, I have the tab on the first button because I think cinching it at the waist band will take it in lower down, rather than around the middle of my back where it is gaping a tiny bit.

I think as far as washes go, I like the Lucky one and the Gap one equally. They appeal to me for different reasons. Brendan prefers the Gap one. I definitely like the fit of the Gap one better, although I would probably still have it taken in at some point, so it looks sleeker when it's unbuttoned. The thought of not having to pay a small fortune to have something altered *is* appealing. I think I'll probably go with the Gap one, because of fit, and I can wear it right away.

Ana, I agree the Gap jacket fits better. Otherwise, I like them both given the Lucky one was altered. I hope I get to see one on you in person too. I was at the mall today and tried the Gap one on. For me the sleeves were too short although it looks cute rolled up. Is this an issue for you too?

The sleeves are actually an okay length on me (I have short arms), but I will probably always wear them rolled up. I think it looks more casual/chic that way.

Ana - you'll look great in the Gap jacket and I understand wanting to spend less on alterations. Good plan!

Ana, I like them both equally well (the lucky and the gap one). I like your plan and think it will become a great and versatile piece in your wardrobe. Can't wait to see the finished product (whenever you get it altered)!

I think I am going to take it Monday and see how much it would cost to do the two things I want. I think it would look better with dresses and skirts if it were just a *little* bit more cropped, like maybe an inch or two. I'm so excited!
