Dashielle, I was wondering the same thing myself!

Angie, if boots are worn with the culottes, is it best to keep the boot color low contrast to the culottes if you are short?

They look and sound as though they could easily be worn across seasons with suitable foot/leg wear. I can picture your styling idea in my head beautifully Angie!

I knew these would grow on you, Janet. Your sarong shorts and Culotte-Light.

Gigi, the contrast is less of an issue here in my mind. It's the heeled and tailored tall boot that will make all the difference - like your Aquatalia Rumbas.

Thanks, Lyn. I have ANCIENT tailored black knee-high boots that will work perfectly with these cream culottes.

I took one for the team today and tried these on in an 8. Too long for my 5'2" frame. Stumpifying or not, there is a design flaw in the lining connecting the pocket across the fly area. Very visible show through when on :-(. See the close up shot. Black would be fine, I'm sure. The blush ones are a light satiny fabric. Definitely dressier. Didn't try those.

Hmmm, I wonder if I could wear culottes with my new boots. (Or my old ones, in black, for that matter.) They are not heeled, and not especially tailored. Come to think of it, I might look like something off the set of a bad Western movie.
I haven't even gotten around to making myself any track pants yet, and here is another pant style to aspire to. . . .
Oh, and I was at Pacific Place this weekend and didn't even think to go into Club Monaco. Where was my mind?

Dashielle, thanks for linking back to this post from Angie's culottes blog post today...I didn't realize you had tried the CM ones on! Thank you for that.

I am short too, and I would expect to have to hem these culottes about 2 inches to have them work on my height. (I have noticed that petite maxi skirts are generally 3 inches shorter than their misses' equivalent, so I'm guesstimating 2 inches for something midi length.) If I try these on at CM, I will take along my heeled boots (Aquatalia Rhumbas) and roll up the pant legs and then see if I like it. However, the rise may be too long, as is often the case with misses' pants on me.

Too bad about the show-through lining. I wonder if they're all like that? I suppose a person would have to wear white leggings underneath. It's frustrating when manufacturers can't design clothing without these issues.

Those are delicious.
I would love to be able to wear either long dressy shorts or culottes as a skirt alternative. Not sure about appropriateness, proportions and footwear (for my setting). Also, seasonal confusion is an issue for my temperature control. So they might only work for fun-fashion capsule, for which, alas, I'd need to start having more fun. But worth pondering....

Thanks, Ann. GREAT that you tried them on. I didn't mind the lining peeking through in the cream. They are a good 3 inches too long for you though. Hemming would significantly improve proportions.

I'm a bit surprised that the lining peeks through; it doesn't bother me too much in your photos, wonder how I would feel about it in person. That definitely needs hemming for us shorties though. Hmm with that taper, for myself I might get that shortened quite a lot higher (like top of the calf) so that the hem opening is more flared. Thanks for sharing these photos Ann, really helpful!

I missed this - silly me. They are gorgeous

I love these - thanks so much for trying them on Dashielle. They are my current number 1 greedy eyeball item. Aida maybe you should try them on and take some pictures?

Hah Jaime, yes I really should and I do plan to at some point. Just need to motivate myself to drive into the city ><

Yeah, I made the mistake of touching them today, and I can pretty much guarantee I'll be in that same fitting room in a week or so when I have time to focus on them.

These look like so much fun, and I'm surprising myself by really loving the look. Loving another fab culotte outfit I came across here:
