Found Boots at Last!

Well fitting riding boots have been on my list FOREVER. Because I am petite with thinner calves (under 13”), I have had a lot of difficulty finding boots that fit. I have come to realize that the shaft height was as big (or maybe bigger) of an issue as the actual shaft circumference for me. After an exhaustive search, I randomly hit upon these boots at the Ecco Outlet:

They are the Ecco Esmerelda boots and they have a shaft height of 13” and a shaft circumference of 13”. So far they seem pretty comfy and I detect a little looseness around the ankle but it does not seem too bad. The straps are adjustable and while I wish there were only 1 rather than three, beggars cannot be choosers! I am officially ready for fall!

Really nice new boots! And, I didn't even know there were Ecco outlet stores. None near me, but that's probably just as well, since I'd probably go a wee bit overboard.

I am SO getting these boots, Shana! I'm in love. They are exactly what I have been looking for also. Thank you for posting these and giving us all that information. It seems like we have the same problem with boots...I'm also petite (5 ft 2 in) and my calves are 11" around. How small are your calves? and do the boots run small? Thank you, thank you! I am sure we will be boot twins soon.

Congratulations on your find -- they look terrific on you!

You know, the funny thing is, I tried on the Esmeraldas during my boot quest as well, but the pair I tried on seemed higher than 13" (Zappos and Endless.com describe their Esmeraldas as 15"). I wonder if it has to do with the size? Or perhaps a different year's model? The taller ones that I tried hit too far above the top of my calf on my short legs, so they needed more cinching in than the top buckle could provide. That said, I agree that these boots were really comfy -- you could walk all day in them, I bet!

Thanks everyone. I was so disappointed after not being able to get boots while I was in Europe and I was so mad at myself for just not buying one of the pairs that I tried on at the beginning of my trip. I'm so glad that there was a happy ending to my quest!

For anyone looking to get these - I wonder if these were made for outlet because the Esmerelda's I saw on Zappos definitely say 15" for shaft height but I measured these myself and they are indeed 13". Mine are a size 36 - I have been taking European 37 for the last few years (was 36 pre-pregnancy) but I noticed in Germany too that the 36's seemed to fit better. My calves measure 12.85" so really not that tiny - it was definitely shaft height that was the issue.

Shana, 12.85 is definitely tiny. My calves are bigger than yours are and they are still considered narrow.

I don't always those measurements enough to affect my decision-making. Both Nordstrom and Zappos claim my EM boots have a 15" shaft height which is definitely wrong.
