Suz - this sweater actually reminded me of your Equipment one which I love - and that's one reason I bought it. I think you're right- I need to darken it up, and tomorrow I may persevere (*wears sweater everyday this week determined to get it right *) and do a black skirt and booties. Reclaiming my femininity in my clothes is a goal for this year - and I was quite pleased with myself for finding a floral sweater. I was hoping for it not to be a one-look item - but wildcard it may be. Not worth what I spent on it though for it to make me comfortable with that as it's status. Do you wear your Equipment one with black? Mine has no black in it all , which is why I never considered wearing it with black pants or skirts. Yes, I am a little rigid that way

I do wear my Equipment one with black, yes. Also with white bottoms, cream bottoms, faded denim, dark denim, grey bottoms, and over top of a navy dress, with grey or navy tights. But mostly, to be honest, with denim. Hey -- can you wear this sweater with your skirted leggings?

(My Equipment Sloane has grey, blue, smokey grey-blue, a sort of mauve, black, bone.)

I tried it with plum, too, and it "went" but consensus was that it looked too ladylike. So I never wore that version out of the house.

Lisa I love the sweater and I think it looks fab with jeans. I don't the necklace is right here tho

I could see this worn with slim black ankle pants, pumps or ankle boots and layered black beads (apologies if I am projecting my own style preference too much).

I know you want to get away from jeans but how about with a dark wash boot cut jean??

Do you have a long grey cardigan that would tone with the sweater? You could layer that over the sweater and do skinny black pants or a pencil skirt?

The world is your oyster:)

The ideas I like are
- bright pencil skirt or even cropped trousers
- black cropped or slouchy pants
- cropped jacket or blazer over the top

I normally don't wear black and a print unless black is in the print...but if you had say black cropped pants, a black handbag and your silver shoes I totally think that could work.

Suz - skirted leggings are packed away until next winter now. They are too heavy for this sweater anyways. You have a bigger selection of pant/skirt colours in your closet than I do - I'm pretty much a black or navy wearer. Again, this is creating the need to purchase stuff to wear with it. Grrr.

Deb - thanks for the suggestions and I think are you are right. Black bottoms it shall be. And don't worry about the necklace comment - I didnt' love it together either. Which is why I didn't post that picture after I initially took it a few weeks ago.

LisaP. I admire you for knowing yourself and your likes/dislikes. I am striving to reach a similar level of understanding. If the sweater doesn't work for you, dump it and move one to the next best thing.

Lisa, I think it looks great on you, but I understand the feeling and am learning to pay closer attention when I purchase too. It does remind me of Suz's sweater, and I thought of Suz when I saw it. It's a really nice piece, but maybe it's just not "you."

Try some alternative stylings, but if you never feel like pulling it out and wearing it after that, I say cut your losses and sell it while it's a popular item.

I hear you about the white jeans. With an extra 5 lbs on me right now, I'm giving my white and cream jeans a big side-eye.

Janet - I know you and I agree about white jeans. I just don't find them flattering, not just on me, but on most people, tbh. I've never sold my clothes before - and I know many of you do. I'll have to look into this. Thanks again ladies for taking the time to comment - it's great to see your thoughts !

While I find the sweater quite flattering on you, it really shouldn't take this much agonizing to feel good in it IMO. You gave it a try, good effort, sell it and be done! I bet someone here will pick it up or there are a number of places to sell that we can all recommend. It helps assuage the cost of so-called "bad decisions" I use Poshmark and a local consignment shop for higher end items, and some here use eBay successfully.

Thanks for the tips Ann. I went straight to Poshmark, only to discover it's for US residents only. Anyways, you're right - and I am embarrassed about appearing to overly agonize over a sweater. The sweater's fine - I just can't figure out how to wear it. I didn't quite mean to turn it into the problem of the day There sure are bigger things in life to worry about, aren't there?

Maybe big all-over prints on your top half aren't really "you"? On me, and this is absolutely no comment on your look, i just feel a bit granny-ish in wide spaced, pale background printed tops. But toned down as a big flowery scarf + plainer (or geometric) top, it's all fine and balanced!

AnnaJP - no apology needed; you are totally right

First world problems eh Lisa? LOL

I think the sweater is very pretty but taste is individual and if you don't think you will wear it, then find someone who will and two people will be happy.
