First post: Dressing Gown?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I'm a new follower of this blog and have already spent countless hours reading entries and forum posts! I am looking forward to really diving in, and am excited about the proposed black dress challenge.

I will have a lot of questions, but I will start with something fairly simple.

While living overseas (I'm recently returned to the U.S.) I developed the habit of having "home" clothes that are separate from my "street" clothes (this was de rigueur over there!). I'm a glamour puss and even at home I hate to schlep around in sweatpants and the like.

Here is what I'm really looking for:

This was an orange dressing gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Where can I find this sort of thing? A replica of this one would be perfect.

P.S. I will soon post photos. I am 5'9.5" (176cm), slim, hourglass.

Love a vintage fashion question! I want one of those dressing gowns myself. I can't put my hands on the exact article, but I have a suggestion for further info: the Vintage Fashion Guild. It's a forum for people who sell and appreciate vintage clothing. If you ask them I bet they can tell you where to find it (or something mighty similar).

What a neat site! I hadn't thought of this as a vintage question - LOL! I assumed I mustn't be the only one who wants something chic to wear around the house. I don't like typical robes because:

1. They look like robes (hee hee!)
2. They are often bulky around the neck and shoulders, which make my morning grooming routine much more cumbersome.

I have thought of buying a wrap dress to use just for this house purpose... Would I be crazy to keep a DVF wrap dress hanging on a peg? LOL!
